I admit, abject and utter failure.....
by notverylikely ini tried, i thought i could make it work, it seemed so easy, but alas, in my project to turn a used $3 cigar box into a functional humidor i failed miserably.
i never could make the box airtight enough and allow enough air to circulate through to keep the cigars moist enough with a passive humidifier.
the humidity kept falling too low, i kept have to try to seal more edges of the box and eventually i started losing cigars.. i broke down today and bought a $40 humidor and in the space of just a few hours it is already keeping the cigars more moist and humid.. i failed.

The Holiday Thread
by SweetBabyCheezits in[i'm sure this thread comes up several times a year by us noobs but it's new for me.
btw, i'm not advocating or opposing the celebration of holidays, just giving a perspective we've taken recently.].
okay, so before we got df'd a few weeks back, we weren't sure if we were going to start celebrating holidays... for a few reasons:.

Nothing wrong with moving on Dan. I liked your posts and threads. Hope the best for you and I hope you come to some kind of resolution with your respective other. I hope you stand your ground dealing with her too. I'm not saying that you grab her by the throat, but don't let her step all over you either. I hope you swing through here occasionally and say wsup. Also, I think its a good thing to move on from this forum for some. There comes a time when its appropriate to stand on your own two feet. I hope and pray the best for you Dan. Grab life by the horns, and break its neck while you're at it.

I always liked this one.
You're right though. It does get pretty heated around here. I've had a heluva day at work today, to the point I'm starting to develope Hitler/Himmler thoughts towards people on medical assistance. But like you said, gotta take a deep breath, and put things in perspective. Life could be worse, we could be out in field service or at an assembly.

I'm happy for you and your family Cheezits. I've seen your family pictures too, you have a beautiful family. I can only imagine how warm it must have felt to do holidays together as a family.
On the other hand, I get flack everytime I comment on these threads. I probably should wait on Vamp to get here before saying anything. I know he's on the same page as me. Personally, I'm somewhat thankful of my JW upbringing when it comes to holidays. I'm not exactly a people person. The thought of holidays, shopping, and spending time with people makes me irritable, and increases my anxiety. I've never been particulary social, and I avoid JW gatherings at all costs. When it comes to holidays, I imagine all the scum shopping at Wal Mart, or the crowds at Best Buy, a small side of me appreciates the WT. Having to eat dinner with family, whats the point? I ate dinner with family for 22 years of my life. There's no lost time to make up when it comes to holiday dinners. Holidays, I can sleep in late as I'm off from work. Screw field service. There's usually some good NFL, or NBA action. However, I hate holiday music, I hate holiday movies, and holiday TV specials. Can't stand all that crap. They show that same stupid movie with that kid getting his tongue stuck on the pole every year. As a Jehovah's Witness, even one who doesn't buy the WT's nonsense, I can avoid all that holiday crap. Only thing that irritates me about this year is that retarded KM School which is on Christmas, and Christmas Eve. Jackasses in Bethel making brilliant decisions.

Heinrich Himmler and Ernst Rohm. I wonder if the guy who took this photo knew Rohm's fate was sealed the same way the camera man in the Minnesota game knew Wade Phillips time in Dallas was numbered?

The black GB member is less qualified anyway. Jaracz was just a bleeding heart liberal who tried to be overly sensitive. Now that he's gone, hopefully the GB will reflect a more respectful conservative tone which may eliminate unnecessary black members and the so called need for color in the first place.

You also have to be a halfway decent reader. Depending on the Hall, some elder bodies won't allow foreign brothers read even if their broken english is pretty decent. Funny as ever when you sit in an elder meeting watching grown men argue whether or not a brother's broken english is acceptable for the meeting. Sometimes the arguing parties on the elder body come to an agreement, and let the foreign brother read at the Congregation Bible Study, but won't allow him to read at the "public" WT study. I'm thinking to myself, how is it that he can't read at the "public" WT study, when there's never anybody from the "public" there anyway? The WT study and public talk audience is still 99.9% the publishers from the congregation.

Is exposing young children to religion a form of child abuse?
by Giordano inis religious indoctrination an assault on children, an assault on their capacity for individuation, curiosity, self-validation, and critical thinking skills?.
can a child with no religious training and traditions and no religious rules grow up to be an ethical person?.

JW parents ease their conscience about forcing this cultish religion down the throats of their children by quoting the scripture in Deut. 6: 7: "....and you must inculcate them in your son and speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road and when you lie down and when you get up." There is also another one that says something like, 'train up a boy in the way he should go, and when he grows old will not turn aside from it.' So they feel a biblical obligation to train (as in like a dog ;-) their children which is a rigorous and continuous process.
Good point. You know I would agree with the WT's use of this verse in the context of basic morals. In the context of all that unscriptural nonsense that the WT states is necessary for salvation though, this verse is used to support mental abuse and slavery. Inculcate the boy to recognize the GB as his master and only hope for salvation. Inculcate the boy to view facial hair as the determining factor regarding a person's spiritual maturity. Inculcate the boy to regard goals not including the GB, as unworthy. Inculcate the boy to view all nonJWs as future bird food. Inculcate the boy to fear God and worship God out of fear, but label it love. On and on and on.
