The more you research you will most likely end up Agnostic or Atheist. Seems like your on the same path that I was on. I've found that i can no longer support most of the bibles teachings, Flood, Adam and Eve etc...

I really enjoyed your first post. There are a lot of things i enjoyed about the religion and the congregation, but Im afraid that you will eventually find it impossible to stay a JW. I tried to do the same thing, just show up at the meetings with no responsibilities, but you will eventually figure out that you can no longer to out in service and preach things that you no longer believe. Then people in the congregation will start treating you like a weak person. It will get harder and harder. Good luck with your journey and plz dont ever stop reading and researching everything. You will find a lot more problems with the society than the generation changes. Plz read Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom. Also Gentile times Reconsidered. Look forward to your next post.

What's the silliest, funniest, stupidest, most embarassing thing you ever did on the platform?
by dissed inits friday evening and after being trapped in our home all week with over 2 meters (6 ft) of snow on the ground and more coming........ i feel the need to get a little silly.. so, as no one here really knows me, i can share one of lifes embarassing moments from the kh.
seeing as it's my question, i get to go first.. during the bible review, i accidentally used the s**t word.
my wife gave me a "wth" look.

My brother-n-law once used the word screwy or screwie however you spell it. I once panicked and lost my breath during the watchtower reading, ( i was the reader) and walked off of the stage. I was so embarrassed and the person who gave the talk had to finish as the watchtower reader. I used to get panic attacks i was so afraid of public speaking.

Jesus Curses the Fig Tree
by cameo-d ini felt this subject deserved it's own thread.. .
quote:.
this jesus character is recorded in two books of the bible as vandalising a fig tree for reasons that make absolutely no sense to me at all.. i have mentioned this stupidity a couple of times on this forum and the only attempt anyone had at explaining his actions completely ignored grammar and context.. .

Were not these scriptures written by someone who never even met the Jesus of the bible, and written at least 60 years after he supposedly died?? Who knows if this account even happened, or if anything in the bible even happened?? No historian during Jesus time even wrote about him. Why did it take 60 to a 100 years later before he is mentioned?

Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with the actual scriptural references before you make comments that show your unfamiliarity with the subject being discussed.
The scriptures we are discussing can be found at Matthew 21 and Mark 11.
If you are interested in the authenticity of authorship, you can find scholarly reviews here: en. wikipedia.org/wiki/Gospel_of_Matthew
From that site, there are leads to other detailed documents if you are inclined to look deeper.

According to the information we have, Matthew and Mark did meet and travel with Jesus for a few years.

cameo-d You said
Perhaps you are not familiar with the persecution of Jesus's followers after his crucifixion. Anything written would have been destroyed.
Many of the scrolls we have today have been found hidden in caves in clay vessels.
Of course im familiar. Yah, they dissapeared the same way Joseph Smiths Golden plates did, how convienent. And I never said that Mathew didnt personally know Jesus, what i said was that the bible writers of the Gospels never Met the Jesus they speak of. Just copies of copies of copies.

A question from a recent lurker?
by peake1 ini've been out of "the truth" (df'd) for over the last 15yrs and have struggled with one question all this time.
if the jw faith is not the one true religion and way to worship god then what is??
after all the bible doesn't say there are many ways to serve god but that the door is narrow leading off to ever lasting life and few are the ones finding it.

Hi, i was in your shoes when i walked away back in 2004. You just need to read about 5 books and you will be free. First read Crisis of Conscience, then read In search of Chrisitan Freedom, both written by Ray Franz a former governing body member. Then read Combating Cult Mind Control by Steve Hassan<- and excellent book that will open your eyes. Then read anything by Richard Dawkins, "the God delution" etc...
YOU WILL FIND FREEDOM.
