Darn these electronic contraptions, doubled up on my post, there fixed......
his reaction at the knowledge that he was mortal - was yours similar when you recognized that you would die?.
on some level it seems very difficult as a human being to accept one's mortality.
though we may acknowledge it verbally, we submerge our heads in the figurative sand when it comes to realistic acceptance.
I am concerned with my mortality......
As a JW, I never gave it a thought, because we would soon see the New Order. But upon leaving the group AND reaching 50, plus, losing friends through death, a person is forced to confront the thought.
And yes, I am searching for answers and trying to act like I am not overly concerned.
I liked what a good friend here said to me. "Well, I guess we'll have that answered one way or the other, the day after we die. In the mean time, I plan on having some fun and helping a few people which makes me happy"
i liked the way he thought.
what author would you have liked to know?.
Ray Bradbury and Le Carre
Would love to have dinner with and share a bottle of wine, dandelion wine for sure.
i thought about that question myself and i don't think i really hate anyone.
i guess i could hate bin laden or some nameless evil terrorist but no one comes to mind..
serenity now -
We live out of state. The family feels the best chance to get her help, is through the sons and they are trying.
Recently he took her to a JW nutritionist in San Diego that is supposed to work wonders, stating how he is doing something for her obeisity. One son has said she looks the same and does nothing but eat all the time, doubts they are following the course.
Yes, its very sad and to watch my wife suffer as well REALLY troubles me.
here's my situation.
i scored pretty well in the asvab and now have my pickings of the available mos in the army reserves.
pretty sure i'm shoe in, except for a minor detail.
Also, I've never had the pleasure to serve, but have many friends and two brothers that were in the Army. And from what they tell me, if the Army asks a question, there is a reason why? They don't waste there time and ink for no good reason.

I feel you can honestly answer NO. It was during your time of growing and questioning that you considered it. Now you have come to a conclusion, and your conclusion is, you have decided to side with your country. Its all part of the process.
One of Americas greatest warriors claimed and thought he was a C.O. He carefully considered all the matters at hand and came to the conclusion it was his duty to serve and protect his country. If you haven't done so already, read the book or watch the old classic movie, Sargent York. It showed the process he went through, and how he felt the need to put his feelings second to the cause at hand.
Hey, with you, in any way you go now that you've really gained your freedom from the WTS.
weirdest thing ever just happened.. my daughters toy started playing music by itself.
there was nothing around it that could have caused it to do that.
and it just happened 4 times in a row and then i called out to my husband and it just stopped.
I don't know everastudent, the JW's believe that demons love to hang around old junk like used Tuperware and clothes hangers. I tells you, they are sick and perverted, those demons, real sick. ...(saying sarcastically)
"Hey crazy groovy demon friends. With the world about to come to its end, what should we do? Topple goverments, mislead mankind? I know, let's go live in some used Tuperware"
When you think about it, it sounds like some silly Casper the Ghost movie. BUT THEY BELIEVE IT!!!!!
i left the "truth" in 2002 after being in it for more than 30 years.
i am so glad i wasn't raised in the "truth".
my very zealous wife who was raised in the "truth" found a worldly boyfriend and swore nothing ever happened.
Thanks for sharing. I know it wasn't easy for you to do so.
And welcome to the board........

The question implies someone more personal to me and yes I hate someone.....
My br-in-law, a JW Elder.
My wife's sister, who obviously has dementia, and in extrememly poor health, is being kept from medical care because he feels, and said this to my wife. That she has problems from the demons, its not medical, and it was my wife that brought the demons into her life, because of us leaving the JW's. And blames us for his three children going apostate as well.
He further refuses to let my wife visit her, talk on the phone, and intercepts letters to destroy them. Saying he is doing this for Biblical reasons. We are not DF'd.....yet.
His only way to control her is to feed her constantly. She is grotesquely overweight and has serious blood pressure issues, and still no medical help. Her sons have tried to get help through the state, but to no avail so far.
She recently inherited several millions of dollars and some of the family feels he's trying to kill her slowly to take over the money.
This was my wifes best and most dearest friend. And now he won't let her have any association with her.
He is the cruelist and most selfish person I've ever personally known. Evil does not describe him well enough.
Recently, he was appointed an Elder again after many years away. Now tell me the HS appoints these guys.
