Yikes AK-Jeff, I had almost the exact same experience as you. This guy kept handling the gun in front of us. I asked him, "the gun's not loaded is it?" And he said "yes, of course it is" The JW with me made him unload it if we were to continue our discussion. Which he did relunctantly.

What's The Worst Thing You Know Of That A JW Did?
by minimus inwitnesses are supposed to be "exemplary" and not like the "world".
yet some jws are pretty notorious.. did you know of any jws that did some real bad things?.
i knew a pious witness who got caught twice trying to solicit prostitutes.

I was saving this story for Playboy 'letters from readers', but figured I might as well share this here. lol
Coming into a new congregation that had lots of teens, we were surprised with many of the teens being DF'd at the same time. (in fact over 24 were DF'd in the immediate area) In service that Saturday, after the announcement, a teen who wasn't DF'd told me it was over 'drugs and sex parties'. In fact, said he knew of it going on, but wouldn't rat them out.
As he told me, it was a 'Sex Club' with new members having to perform sex in front of others for initiation. The plan was also to use the young JW girls as prostitutes to gain money for drugs. That's when someone 'turned them in', so they didn't get that far.
I asked my neighbor Elder about this, concerned that kids were still covering up stuff and he confirmed the 'Sex Club' goings on, but added the new girls had to perform oral sex on everyone to join up. He was thankful his kids were not involved, but several Elders and MS were deleted as unfit to serve.
Yes its so true, JW's do have higher morale standards than 'worldy people' (said with sarcasm)

Funny, we tried to use our KH for a similar program in 1996 and the WTS flatly rejected our letter asking for permission. To the point that the CO was notified and admonished us Elders during his visit 'the KH is not to be used for such things'.
We discussed this further saying this could really open doors to witnessing in this very closed up territory. (it was on an Indian Reservation) Plus help fullfill a charter with the tribe who leased us the land for the KH with a conditional use permit, 'to support the community'.
Our 2nd letter was sent and answered saying, 'see our first letter'. The new questions were not answered at all. We all literally shook our heads wondering about the WTS reasoning. Then having to explain to the local govenmental authorities as to why the KH couldn't be used. Our laison to the tribe, a Indian MS, had no idea how to explain it without the JW's looking bad to the community.
The WTS blew a great opportunity to open up the witnessing work more to a tough territory that mistrusted incoming religions.
And to add: And caused discouragement to some of the local Indians who were genuinely excited by this opportunity.

I was at Bethel in 1975 and the sarcastic joke going around was Armageddon came, but it was invisible.
Some were quite poignant, saying "don't say they didn't teach it, because they did!"
Most of us just went along with the flow, to busy to really think about it. I only knew of one person who while there, said they blew it and left the truth.

This was my favorite tool for extracting confessions in Judicial Committee meetings
by gubberningbody intop view... place the penitents feet on the "plates of justice" and flip the buttons and dials and see if the button in the center glows red.. .
side view..... make sure you're wearing rubber gloves and rubber soled shoes.. neehaw!.
oh... now you know what's in my elder bag.. .

Everyone knows that forced confessions from torture don't lead to real repentance, that's why we used 'figurative water-boarding'.
We laid them out, completely embarrassed them, and then gave them the ultimate punishment. We threatened to tell our wives everything after the JC meeting.

No Shorts and T-Shirts After Convention - Remember?
by mentallyfree31 indoes everyone remember a few years back, when the km directed that nobody should wear shorts after the convention while out and about?
i don't have the reference, but i remember a brother in our hall made a comment that night at the meeting while it was being discussed.
he was a very poor brother, with 3 children.

April 2010 KM- District Convention reminders:
9 Is it proper for Witnesses to swim in Motel pools after the convention has let out? Although we understand some feel the need to have 'fun' after a heartwarming convention day, we really can't condone excessive entertainment. Swimming in moderation could be good (1Tim 4:8) but is it really necessary for ones salvation? If Christian Witnesses permit they're children to swim (perhaps an unbelieving mates insists, etc..) they should still be conscious of 'good convention manners'. (1 Co 10:31) Wearing proper modest attire, for young brothers, long sleeve shirts, full length pants, and shoes, and for young sisters, full robes, head covering, and veils would be chaste. Children should also set the example, by not running, yelling loudly so as not to disturb others relaxing, and should never be seen to be having fun. And of course, at all times, keeping their Convention Badges on for all to see.
10 Remember, the witness you give through your children's actions could help someone to see the Watchtower in a positive, not the usual negative way. (Rev 18:4) As one hotel worker noticed after seeing such well-behaved Witness children in the pool, "Who are you people? Is this normal?" The proud parents promptly invited the worker to the convention to learn for himself more about Jehovah's people. No doubt he came and is probably baptized now. (Mt 24:14)
11 Is it proper for Christian Witnesses to have sex privately in their hotel rooms after the Convention?.............

We had a cemetary at WT Farms for the faithful. It was patheticaly unkempt. Weeds and bushes had overtaken it.
In a storage shed, my room mate found a stone marker of a mutual friend who died months earlier. The family of the deceased had paid for it, had it delivered, but no one was ever assigned to install it. My roomate complained to Lon Schilling who told him if he wanted, he could fix it up, but 'on his time'. So, my buddy organized a group and on a weekend they cleaned up the cemetary and installed the 'lost' gravestone marker.
All of these volunteers were very disturbed that it was so neglected and that nobody cared. In the same shed, they dug up two more markers, that were much older, that no one knew anything about.
At the time, I didn't think this, but I do now. Its exactly as Lady Lee said, once you are not producing, you no longer matter.
