Out4good3 - good point
I was thinking he's probably wearing a tshirt that says.
I went to Bethel
for 15 years
and all I got
was this lousy Shirt!
a jw called my wife to talk business yesterday, and voluntarily mentioned her son was living with them again.. now you have to understand, we have not associated with the jw's for 13 plus years.
so it took my wife by surprise that a jw, knowing our situation, would mention this.
but it gets better, there is more to this story.. she then volunteered, he's been living at home with them for over a year since.......bethel "re-assigned" him as she said sarcastically.. "how long was he at bethel?

for those of us who were not able to celebrate birthday's growing up, do you find that in adult life you put a lot of emphasis on your birthday?
it's personally my favorite celebration, second would be thanksgiving but really only because i'm a sucker for lots of turkey and booze lol.
seriously though, since coming out birthday's have surprisingly become a very sacred thing to me.
Not from England, but I could get into Guy Fawkes. Was at Leeds castle for the celebration. Was a blast. Was a JW then. Didn't know it was wrong. haha

"How long was he at Bethel?" She asked, remembering we were at his going away party a long time ago.
"Over 15 years!" And then added, "Can you believe that?! He makes a career of Bethel at our encouragement and they just send him away."
She added strongly. "That's all he knows. He's had no job training for the outside world, nothing!"
As my wife is telling me this, I can remember, I actually encouraged him to go to Bethel. (Yes, I freely admit, "I was a loyal Nazi" for this org. at one time. Please don't hurt me jeaniebeanz! I didn't know any better)
So now he's in his late 30's and living back at home. (Edit: Wife says he's 34)
Question: What does a former unskilled- Bethelite do for work?
A. Becomes a corporate executive
B. Works as a doctor in a local clinic
C. Washes windows around town
If you answered C. you are correct. He is now a window washer, struggling to make a living.
She said, she is VERY discouraged and so his her husband. My wife asked, what about him? (Are not wives nice, always showing how much they care?) EDIT: Wife said to eliminate "very"
"Very depressed. Doesn't talk much. And it's been over a year!" EDIT: Wife said to eliminate "very"
I guess my wife's friend didn't buy the "re-assigned" WTS spin.
Until two weeks ago, since coming here, I didn't know of the Bethel "Lay-offs". The times are a changing.
Next question: Is this a sign the "End is almost here" or is Jehovah re-distributing the Bethelites so the congregations can have more microphone servants?
And...... is this sister unloading for a purpose? Uhm.....inquiring apostate minds want to know.
i address this question to the governing body, to their internet monitors or to any apologist who might want to speak for them.. why do you want disloyal people in your "clean" organization?.
it should be evident by now that an untold number of people in the organization do not really want to be jehovah's witnesses any longer.
specifically, they don't want to attend meetings, or to donate money to the worldwide work, or spend real time going door to door.
Insecurity - You are so right. They are soooo afraid, that even a insignifigant sight like this scares them.
Who cares if someone leaves? They do....
"How dare you leave?!"
They are so petty they can't stand it.
"We'll show you! You still want to see your family? Well guess what? We will make sure you NEVER see them again!"
Somewhere in Brooklyn, a room is filled with old men who are desperate and very much afraid.
"are you ready for some football?!
are you ready to party?!.....".
these lyrics of song uttered by saint hank williams, as he is known to american nfl footbal fans, are more than just a song this morning.

I'm a West Coaster. For us, most of the games started at 10 AM on Sunday. Just like yesterday, most of the NFL games played in the AM.
The experience I related with the CO was when our meeting was in the afternoon. I got to know him well and he actually was a big sports fan. His fav team was the Dodgers and would take in games on occassion.
He told us he went with 2 other CO's to Dodger Stadium for old time sakes. They were Dodger fans while serving at Brooklyn Bethel in the 1950's. The fans started to do the 'wave' that scared the other CO's and they left the game. haha
We also had some big Dodger fans in our Hall. One time we organised a Sunday tail gate party. At least 30 skipped the meeting to go. JG punished us as one bro said. Our team lost.
George Couch told a story that when they were making the 107 building at Bethel, good size crowds would show up to work on Sundays. On one Sunday the crowd was very small and why? The Big Game.
OUTLAW
"Its not how many Smileys you have, nor the size of the critters, but its how you use them that's important. And you sir, are a creative genius when it comes to Smileys"
You make them come alive, its like..... they are moving. You make them speak to us. And what are they saying? I'm not sure, because I don't speak Smiley. But if I did, I think they would be saying some deep and meaningful things, like "screw you!" and "what are you looking at?!" and "Did you know Molson's is not really beer?"
I now have a new appreciation for the Smiley culture thanks to your insightful use of the "little fellas".
Its because of this that I plan on giving you my first JWN Dissed Achievement Award for "Outstanding use of a Smiley on an Apostate Forum."
Congratulations OUTLAW! Well done!
Cheers!
as a newbie here, only having discovered this site a few days ago, i wanted to share with you my early observations and impressions.. being out of touch with the witnesses the last 13 years, i didn't realize sites like this existed.. my thinking was all apostate sites were places of doctrinal discussions on the trinity, hellfire, etc... with bitter x-jw's ranting 24/7.
so i was never excited about allowing more controversy to my life nor visiting such sites.. this is different.. what i'm noticing is that most here seem to be well versed in witness doctrine, much more so than the visiting jw's.
perhaps there is a protection for the wts in keeping people ignorant?.
Outlaw
You let me know about the Penguins too late. He took my credit card, maxed it out on Porn flick rentals, prostitutes, and American Molson beer! D**n those Penguins! D**n them all!
does this ever cross the mind of your average jw?.
can you even begin to imagine what that would look like or even smell like?.
what about the effect of these scenes on the mind of children, even adults?.
Oh yes, uncle Ciro and his message of love.
"Millions now living will never die if....they don't forget to turn in their Service Reports.
And billions now living will be slaughtered mercilessly, even little babies! Doesn't that warm your hearts brothers and sisters?! It gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling all over!"
Uncle Ciro's message of love and slaughter - Enough to brings tears of joy to the most hardened Nazi.
Farkel .....so true...so true
we all hear how the enemies of israel were cruel horrid people and deserved to die.
lets look at king david.
2 samuel 2:4 after defeating the moabite army in battle he makes the survivors lay down in rowes on the ground...he then gets a mesuring tape and mesures each row killing two out of three survivors!
Read all of King David's accounts, especially how treachously he treated those who even helped him when Saul was chasing him. And then if you REALLY want to see what type of guy he is, re-read the Bathsheeba account.
If Elders followed JG's example with David, and how he dealt with him over transgression, it would be IMPOSSIBLE to kick someone out.
"Okay, you raped your neighbors wife and then killed her husband. And so tell us agian, why are you wasting our time? Come back when you REALLY have done something wrong!"
But noooooooo! How do they treat the poor victim?
"You did what sister?!! You went to the Police and told them YOU were molested with only ONE witness!!! Jesus, Joseph, and Mary! You disgust me!"
