a recent little debate with a couple of recent posters on here i was accused of constantly referring to the past / history of the wts, even to the extent of it being of little importance to them because of the advancement that the wts has made up until this present day , and that they made mistakes, so did the apostles, and we humbly admitted these mistake's etc, the thing is i love studying the history of the wts, it's failed prophecies/blatant lies/flip flop in doctrine, the outright crazy claims, the organ transplant ban, the persecution of their own brothers in malawi, there help for their brothers in mexico, yet at virtually the same time condemning those brothers to murder/rape/kidnap/false imprisonment etc, so folks, you will be seeing a lot more examples of wts history, i'll keep it coming, because the final conclusion will be that the wts is not the channel that jerkhobah uses on earth, and it truly is an apostate!.

my mom knows my position on not being a jw anymore, and we have a pretty good relationship after some rocky patches.
my younger sister is the only one that is still a jw, my older siblings had all left many many years ago, and my younger brother and his family has left now as well.
we have had a few non birithday, birthday parties in the past, no candles on the cake, no singing happy birthday, but just all getting together as a family and having a good time.

my wife ran into a jw the other day who apologized to her for having 'shunned' my wife the other day.
turns out that my wife never even saw her the day she was 'shunned'.. the apology was telling though: "i just wanted to say i was sorry for ignoring you the other day.

My nephew and his wife sent a letter to the congregation dis-associating themselves. Oh the embarrasment to their parents!
Grandma and grandpa now REFUSE to visit their grandchildren. This has been going on for 5-6 years. They live around the block.
My nephew went to their house recently to tell them, they MUST at least visit the kids, they are missing them growing up, and will regret it later.
They did then come over......for 5 minutes then left.

Another opportuniy for me to bash the GB.
I know of two couples that were engaged, tried to break it off and were pressured by the Elders not to.
And why?
Because at that time the 'spirit guided' GB said being engaged was just like being married, and if they were to break it off they would be punished. As the Elders warned and pressured them to do the right thing, GET MARRIED!
Both ended up miserable, their lives ruined, and eventially divorced.
Another mistake by the GB of imperfect men? Hardly. Just more proof they were not being guided by the spirit. God's Holy Spirit don't make mistakes.
And did they apologize for the lives they ruined for the temporary wrong doctrine? No. It was the Elders overeacting and mis-reading what they really meant.

Happened to us once and we were the only ones who didn't bring a gift. This was an older person who really meant 'NO GIFTS'. We felt ackward, but later she pulled my wife aside and thanked us for respecting her wishes.
As people left she insisted on them taking back the gifts, becaue she had no room for them in her apartment and saying she would have to donate them to the thrift store. She wasn't rude about it, was truly thankful. She really had no room in her small apartment.
A card is not a gift. I noticed our senior citizens love gift cert. even a small one to a restaurant.
i live in a medieratian town.
like most med towns it has a promanade ( some have squares but same thing) everybody and i mean everybody goes to the promenade in the evening.
you walk up around, meet freinds go for a drink at one of the many cafes lining the prom, maybe get invited for a moonlight sail on their boat.
