Do You Really Trust The Police?
by minimus inin the local paper there are 2 different towns that are dealing with possible police misconduct.
one situation involves thousands of dollars worth of pot stolen from the police locker where the drugs were supposed to be safe.
now the feds and state are involved in finding out who was responsible for the theft.

No, I do not trust cops, been abused and pushed around way too many times for no reason.
But, I do respect the ones in my family. They seem very decent in the performance of their duty.
I have a BIL who was career CHP. (retired)
Another BIL who is a homicide detective.
A sister who was a dispatcher for the CHP
A brother who is a Sherriff
And a SIl who has the most difficult job of all. She works for the Sherriff dept. in PR and as the one who notifies families that their loved one has been murdered. I saw her recently when visiting Calif. and she said her job has gotten worse because of cut backs. She's expected to cover for 4 people and is about to have a breakdown.

At 12 years I cleaned horse stalls for .50 each, plus riding priviledges. It was mine until my dad learned where I was hiding it and stole it all to buy booze.
Now life has come full circle. I have horses and have someone who we pay $10 hr to clean our stalls, plus she gets full riding priviledges. And whats left over after her pay day, I use to buy booze.
And snowbird, I think I'm a male, at least the last time I checked I was. jk

Gordy - If he was giving a talk and a child cried, he would stop and wait until it was taken out the Hall.
He embarrassed many a mother doing that.A brother called, to tell me a visiting CO did that at his cong. He felt like turning off the sound on this guy. I forget his name, maybe the same guy.
He called later and said he did it at the Circuit Ass. After the CA, some of the Elders approached him and firmly counseled him.

I know some of you are thinking, "No way would Elders have people do these things!"
Remember, its the 70's, with the new Elder arrangement. Plenty of 'Rookie' 'SR' 'God Guided' Elders did some real kooky stuff back then.

One more thing. He left the org some years back. Suspect he's lurking around here. Will not be surprised to get a PM from him over this story if he is here.

Avishai - I get it, thanks for the tip to bring my old threads back. lol
Not me, but the MS brother who studied with me in the 70's was asked by the Elders to spy on a 'suspected' couple cheating. Him and another bro had the assignment to stay up all night and watch the house.
They saw suspect #1 pull up in the car and flash his lights. Then suspect #2 came out of the house and sneak into the car. They waited a few minutes then decided they had to see them in the act. They went up to the car and peaked in the window. As he said, "I couldn't see all the details, but saw enough to see what was going on."
The couple saw them as they were leaving, started the car and drove away. My friend for reasons, he said, could not explain, decided to follow them. So, they now were following the couple around town in the middle of the night.
They got wise to being followed and sped up, he sped up and it became a car chase. When it came to tires screaching around corners he called it off.
The couple were both DF'd and two divorces followed. Nothing happened to him. I suspect he didn't share the whole story with the Elders.

by dissed ini was in homedepot (hardware store) the other morning and i noticed two jw spanish brothers making the rounds, in the store.

Hi Gayle
Simple math didcates the gross financial impact to the city is less than 3 million. 2 million in rooms/ 1 million in meals
Also if you divide the 20.4 million by the 45,000 it would mean $440.00 spent per delegate while in Tucson.
Tucson is a lovely city, but....JW's will not see the sights of Tucson in July nor will they hit the clubs at night. Tucson shopping and souveniers? Not likely.
Most JW's don't even have a need to fill the gas tanks as they head back north to PHX.
As a former negoiator and purchaser for the WTS, I can tell you from my experience these figures they quote are a 'gross exaggeration' probably being used to secure a better deal from the convention site.

Yeah, I had two friends have babies 6 months after they were married and they weren't premature. Both were disciplined by the Elders
