by minimus inas one who grew up "in the truth", i recognized that the most important goal i could ever have was "to be used" in jehovah's service (aka the organization).
when i was a kid i pioneered every summer for at least one month, sometimes more.
i was the timekeeper for the theocratic ministry school as a child.

The worst? Wallkill - WT Farms
Made up of 90% Bethelites that were almost 100% self righteous. "The most unfriendliest congregation EVER." The comic book guy
The Best? Canarsie, Brooklyn, NY - Lot of fun, but with a side story. I came back to Bethel some time later for a visit with some friends. One of them a Bethel Elder and doctor who was just transferred to Canarsie.
I asked how my old buddies were doing? He tried to change the subject. Clever me, I caught it. He then confessed over 70 were DF'd for apostasy. ALL the Elders, MS, Pioneers, Bethelites! Yowzie! (early 80's)
Joked with me, that I would be on the watch list because of my prior association.
I can also share a story on this about him now that I'm out. This is good.
His wife left him, while at Bethel, ran off with some schmoo, and he re-married a very nice lady. But what I never told him was this. A mutual friend showed me a picture of his ex-wife, a ex-Bethelite from a quazi 'dirty' magazine. National Lampoon. She was in a ad and was posing nude. It positively was her.
There, I told it, first time ever.

In 1972, in Los Angeles we had a decent earthquake.
The KH's were overflowed with people that night. Being new, I didn't think much of it but the JW's were BUZZING!!!
Lasted for only a few meetings and then things went back down. They live in fear of the Big A.
Now don't you feel viii that we are like the evil people of Noah's time mocking him. And you Brinjen, the evil one, making fun of the JW's.
Well, that's what the JW's want us to think. "You'll get yours, you wait and see."

Out 13 years and never reading any of the WTS literature until I came here 3 weeks ago.

Favorite CO expression about reaching out for Elder position. He reversed the thinking.
"You don't step down as an Elder when you leave it. You are stepping up to be a publisher."
He reasoned Elders are servants of the brothers. "Their is no glory in the job, you are just a dirty slave."

by patio34 ini requested that my sons (both jws) come to my home for a family meeting today.
had nothing to do with religion.
both of them know i don't go to meetings and that i have intellectual disagreement with wtbs.. son #2 said that before we begin the meeting, he would like to offer up prayer.

LaidOff Bethelites: Weeping And Gnashing of Teeth
by metatron indon't let any of the watchtower's propaganda deceive you.
i encountered some private conversations among witnesses about the subject and it's ugly.
yes, there is suffering as many of these victims try to live on charity and can't find jobs in the worst economy since the depression.. some of their private observations include shock that you need a college degree for nearly any job and that the watchtower society couldn't have picked a worse time to do this to them .. all the while these complaints are discussed, i try not to show that i am astounded by their bizarre "logic".

Gayle - And that was when Nathan Knorr was mellow.
A friend of mine left in 1950 to get married tells the story how Knorr lectured the Family about this person losing sight and Faith in the last days by leaving Bethel to get married.
Knorr ranted with anger about how could a person let this happen to him, the whole time, everyone knowing it was him. He humilated him in front of others on purpose. Adding stuff about 'these sisters that interfer with the work'
As we all know Knorr got married a couple of years later. The Bloody hypocrite!
My wife wanted to know how he could take it and he said he didn't take it well. Slowed down in his service for awhile but eventually came back full swing to go on to Gilead and the Branch work.
He said Knorr eventually apologized to them, sort of. He sent him and Lynn a card on their 30th wedding anniversary. No note just a signature.
Another reason why we should be thanking Jah everyday for the Web? People that are treated like that NOW have a place to go, vent and be helped. Thank you LORD Gore!
