Ding,
I don't say anything now about her activities to her now. I just let her be her. I use to a few years ago, before I knew about the cult personality and all.
my wife, a jehovahs witness, buys our daughter valentines and lollipops with a valentines day theme.
she then takes the time to put them together the night before valentines day and sends them with our daughter to school on valentines day.
what would you think of such a jehovahs witness?.

She can get away with it because you are not in the "truth" and are head of the house - you made her do it - lol.
Yep, I remember telling her that she could 'hide behind my headship' if she wants to do these things. She did not like that.
she is the Finest JW I ever Met!
I concur.

My wife, a Jehovah’s Witness, buys our daughter valentines and lollipops with a Valentine’s Day theme. She then takes the time to put them together the night before Valentine’s Day and sends them with our daughter to school on Valentine’s Day. What would you think of such a Jehovah’s Witness?
On the night before Valentine’s Day, I go out and buy my daughters and my wife balloons, candy, and Valentine’s Day cards. My oldest even picks out the type of candy to buy for my wife. The next day, my wife goes out and buys each of us candy, and makes two handmade cards for the girls. She even orders pizza so I would not have to cook that night, all for Valentine’s Day. What would you think of such a Jehovah’s Witness?
My wife is talking about birthday parties with my oldest daughter and she even took her to a birthday party of her best friend. The party was held at a public place so there certainly was a chance (albeit a slim one since we live in a large area) that she could’ve been spotted by another Jehovah’s Witness. I wonder if she even thinks about that possibility.
My wife has in times past spoken of wanting to return to our hometown, a small city with less than 50,000 people. It is very hard to go anywhere without bumping into someone you know and there are indeed a good number of witnesses in the area. Especially considering that the city is made up mostly of Christians who have no real clue what life is like in any cosmopolitan type of area. To them, interdenominational protestant churches are the closest thing they will ever see to interfaith.
My wife wants to return to that? Granted, I get the whole being close to family and having their support and all, but here where we live she is a free woman who can live her life pretty much as she chooses. Back home, if she were to do those things I mentioned, she is liable to be reported to the elders. Most likely, the person reporting her would be her cousin in retaliation for my wife reporting her to the elders some three years ago (they still do not speak to each other to this day because of it, which is so sad).
Do you know active witnesses who live like this?

did anyone see this video?
i've seen it before but my wife wanted to watch it again last night.
Thanks for the responses. Yeah, richer people would rake in more dough for the $ociety, not to mention the fact that someone educated in medicine could specialize in bloodless therapies. Makes me wonder, every time a witness proudly talks about how they managed to find a doctor who specialized in bloodless surgeries, etc., how many of those doctors are Jehovah's Witnesses.
It's propaganda, plain and simple, like the religious videos I use to see at my uncle's house.
i hate doing this type of thread.
none of us are perfect, least of all myself, and i would rather focus any criticism on the watch tower society for damaging people's lives.
however, in the short period since i've been a member of this forum i've noticed one member in particular deteriorate in his behaviour into the type of individual who threatens to undermine the credibility of the entire website.
This thread reminds me of what Moshe pointed out about a year ago concerning faders.

On some level, I can understand Rick's frustration. Witnesses like my wife will always think highly of the WT and very lowly of former witnesses and even more lowly of those who fade. To the faders especially, she thinks that they are a big bunch of hyprocrites for going to the KH and pretending to be a good witness, especially in the case of elders who post here, she especially has a low opinion of you.
She just does not understand that the men in power over the WTS can be suseptible to corruption and even if one member were to become corrupt, he would be ejected in short order (Yeah, tell that to Leo Greenlees). That is why she, as well as Brother Hero, view Raymond Franz with such disdain. She believes that he must have done something wrong to be removed and later disfellowshipped. The vaunted WT is blameless in her eyes as well as the eyes of the other witnesses I encounter, facts be damned, especially coming from an outsider like me. If the facts come from an apostate, well, mind off....
I understand why faders remain in hiding, just perusing Moshe's thread gives me insight. Never-the-less, it does little to sway the minds of people like my wife. She does not see the problem and she never will as long as the WT continues to keep people fearful of speaking out. On the other hand, the witnesses are indeed a very, very, VERY minor sect of Christianity consisting of merely 0.1% of the whole world's population. If all the dirty laundry of the WT could be exposed on a large scale, would anyone care? How many people think a lot of the dirt found in the Catholic church?

Well, it is a religious video that promotes the JEHOVAH'S WITNESS religion so of course it would promote the religion over anything 'worldly.' Even if that 'worldly' thing is something that can help provide better for house and home. Given that so many people here had foregone an education and are now regretting it showcases the dangers of getting out of balance when it comes to religion. But, uber-religious people just say, "God will provide." I guess for many this is the case, but I still think that attitude can be very off balance when taken too far.

I guess to be fair, it is a religious video and as such it is going to be biased. I can recall when I was an IFB and I use to go to Sunday morning worship, hang out with my religious uncle and his family until Sunday night, then go back to church before going home. While at my uncle's house, he would watch religious videos.
This video certainly goes to great lengths to make the coach, the 'unbelieving' father, and Andre's best friend look like they are all about themselves and winning. Later in the video Andre's mom connects being a track star to being a winner in 'Satan's system.' But it is a religious video so what can one expect?
wow, two days after my conversation with brother hero that brother sidekick shows up with his wife at our apartment.
i am not sure what he wanted but he shows me a newspaper article that suggests that jesus was in jail for the last supper and calculates his death at 33 c.e.. i honestly dont know what he was trying to get at but he and his wife started talking about the memorial.
he said that just like what the newspaper article said, the jews no longer use the old calendar.
Thanks for the comments, everyone. The more and more I think about it, the more and more I see that the topic of the memorial celebration day is pointless. Never-the-less, I will ask if it is the same day as the passover and if he says yes then point out that the passover starts the following day.
At any rate, it appears that Brother Sidekick likes his research (if you can call it that). Perhaps HE can research when the WTS became the one true religion.

Nisan 14 is the pass around the cup and plate day. April 5, 2012
Passover begins Nisan 15. April 6, 2012
But I prefer the Nissan Pivo, maybe the ruler on the bottom will be useful for measuring things. Pyramids, Gentile Times, when passover starts...
