  daughter questions me about mothers day!

  my daughter came home from school and said they are doing some cards at school for mother's day and asked me if that was ok. i looked and just smiled and said darlin, just make a lovely mothers day card and make sure to put lots of love from dad on it too .

  hi all, ive decided to come back to the forum.

  am needing to let of some steam in regards to things in general as finding myself frustrated once again with wt rules policies etc which i will discuss in future threads.

  i just wanted to ask your thoughts about ex 7:1 as it says that the lord made moses god to pharaoh.

  Hi all, ive decided to come back to the forum. Am needing to let of some steam in regards to things in general as finding myself frustrated once again with wt rules policies etc which I will discuss in future threads. I just wanted to ask your thoughts about ex 7:1 as it says that the lord made Moses God to Pharaoh. John 1:1 says the word was God. Surely those who have belief in the trinity can see that Elohim (God) means mighty one, and that Jehovah was making him a mighty one to Pharaoh. and therefore john 1:1 simply means that the word was a 'mighty one'. Any thoughts?

  I think the talk that stood out for me that morning was the one about putting on a false front ie puttng on an appearance at meetings etc but doing things we shouldnt be doing as christians such as using technolology re looking at things of a sexual nature, being involved in bad business practices etc. I didnt see anything wrong in what was said......but can understand how someone suffering from depression might feel about themselves if in a dark place. I also heard about the sad news at the convention.......it was very sad to hear this. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and freinds.

  a little background on me, i have never been a jw.

  my spouse was born and raised in the cult, disfellowshipped as a young adult and is now completely shunned by family still trapped inside.

  before i met my spouse i knew very little about the jws.

  Note: before I suggest the following, I am not a trinitarian and agree with the WT to a point about their view on the Trinity. But the following is a good suggestion.

  Mention to your study conductor that it is incredible why so many people within Christendom beleive in the Trinity; AND THEN SAY THE FOLLOWING

  If Jesus is OUR mediator, how could he be God? because he mediates between God and men as high priest; so he cant be God!

  He may probably say the following;

  yes christendom have the whole trinity doctrine wrong etc etc and he may then completely ignore the fact that you mentioned that Jesus is OUR mediator either knowingly or unknowingly depending on his WT teaching knowledge

  OR

  He will agree that Christendom have the whole Trinity doctrine wrong etc, but correct you on the fact that according to the society Jesus is mediator of the New Covenant which includes the 144000 only (that he is not mediator to the other sheep=us, but that we BENEFIT from the blessings of Christs mediatorship with the 144000 under the New Covenant arrangement). If he says this, then you can say 'innocently of course', oh, thats interesting, but I read somewhere in the new testament that Jesus is mediator between God and men?. Then say I am sure I read it somewhere etc and start looking for it in the index at the back and then find 1 Tim 2:5 and read to him)!!

  You could also say, well why do we pray to God through Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins if he is not OUR mediator?

  He will proably say, oh I will dig out some information for you, (or he will get the reasoning book out).

  Of course, you can be sure he will go into WT teaching mode and explain it away. But it will make him think!

  Hi everyone,

  I Recently spoke to my mother and wife (separately) to explain what Jesus meant when he was talking in John Ch 10 about 'the other sheep'. For my wife, I wrote out in pencil and 'diagrammes' the explanation. She of course said I was criticizing the society. I said I wasnt criticizing the society, but was simply pointing out a TRUTH. I said to her that I didnt care for imperfect mens interpretatons (however sincere); that it is important to know what Jesus was truly trying to tell us. I then went into a lengthy explanation of John ch 10. Funny enough, my mother was easier to speak to on this topic, and I was quite surprised by her reaction as she can see no wrong with the teachings of the society.

  All credit goes to Perimeno who has revealed this truth to me.

  Simply put

  The sheep that are in the pen as mentioned in John 10: 7 are 'natural Jews' from the lost sheep of Israel - from whome listen to Jesus voice - the ones whome Jesus was sent forth to preach to 'first'.

  John 10 : 16 - the other sheep, Jesus refers to are 'the gentiles' who later on listen to Jesus voice and also become followers.

  These two flocks of sheep ie Natural Jews who became Christians and gentiles who later on became Christians,- then join together to become one flock under one shepherd - Jesus Christ. For Jewish Christians - this would have taken a bit of time to getting used to (recall the circumcision issue).

  This would then mean - from Jesus death up until the present day, 144,000 holy one's have been and continue to be ,- selected - to rule as kings and priests to rule (with Christ) over the earth.

  Irrespective of whether a Christian is going to heaven or to reside here on earth, - Jesus is mediator to all Christians. That is why we can pray to our father (Y[J]ehovah) in heaven through Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins, because he (Jesus [Yeshua]) - is our mediator.

  I personally have decided to take the advice of perimeno and humbly stick with the household of God - Jehovah's Witnesses. Though, some of there teachings are incorrect, I believe for the most part that they have helped us to understand many truths; plus the fact that they are doing what Jesus asked of Christians and that is to preach the good news of the kingdom, which is the most important thing at this time. I do this as one of Jehovahs witnesses because I believe wholeheartedly in Gods word. All truth will be revealed shortly and all mistakes by imperfect men revealed. Stick with it brothers and sisters and dont be stumbled by some of the teachings of imperfect men and some of their unfair policies. Each of us will be judged according to our deeds; and that will especially include our leaders / teachers (James 3:1).
