American accents, Bette Midler, Clinton, Rick Fearon, Strathclyde, Morningside
by slimboyfat ini used to enjoy being able to distinguish different local accents, but for some reason i've got worse at it.
i was thinking about this today when i was listening to bette midler on the scottish radio.
i thought to myself i quite liked her accent and also that it reminded me of someone else.

The coolest American accent I liked was John Wayne's accent. He had a strong manly American accent. Also like Matthew Mconaugheys accent which is a deep southern american accent if I am not mistaken? forgive my ignorance if wrong -

Rivalry among the sisters
by Esmeralda001 inwhen i was first introduced to the "truth", i was so distracted by the love and affection that the members were showing me that i was ready to convert into the religion without thinking twice.
i was conviced that jws were god's people (i still think some of them are).
i made it my goal to get baptized as i wanted to be part of the "only" religion that produce such good people.

The baptismal talk at conventions and assemblies are for me the most boring. At our recent assembly I decided to pass the time by marking down how many times Jesus name is mentioned in comparison to Jehovahs. The following is what I jotted down. Jesus - llllll (7 times). Jehovah - llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll (64 times) -

There is a sister in our hall and to be fair she is nice. The only think I dislike about her is when she keeps asking me about my job. She is a pioneer and its like she is discreetly having a go at me for being full time. It's got to the point I try to avoid her because she will ask me how my job is going. Also...it's so true about what's said on this thread about the sisters, particularly the gossip. My wife is probably up there with the best of them when it comes to gossip at the hall. Every week it's ' hey won't believe ............ -

This weeks SM talk was cringe worthy in every way. A very long list of every possible method was mentioned as to how we can give money to WT coffers. The GB are very discreet when it comes to how we can donate..... chuckle -

That SM item this week was cringe worthy. I think the talk covered every possible means as to how we can give ££££££££ to the watcht££er. -

The watchtowers biggest mistake
by Truthexplorer inthe moment the leadership of the wt (a publishing company whose purpose was originally to produce pamphlets and books to edify christians) first made the claim to be gods sole channel of communication for dispensing biblical truth here on earth.
that not so discreet assumption has now left them wide open to 'everything they teach as truth'.
as a result, every time an error is exposed or a teaching is changed, their credibility will continue to be affected.

Thought I would dig up this old OP as relates to recent events at ARC hearing. When asked by the Australian Royal Commission if the GB saw themselves as disciples of Jesus? Geoffrey Jackson's answer was that they 'hope to be' disciples. Also when asked if the GB members saw themselves as Gods spokes people on earth? astoundingly he said 'it would seem to be quite presumptuous to say that we are the only spokes person that God is using'. So once again there is contradiction in what the rank and file are being taught/fed by the GB and what they actually really think when under oath in a court of law. Why didn't Geoffrey Jackson state with absolute conviction that they ARE Jesus disciples and that the GB ARE Gods spokes people on earth. Once again, Watchtowers mistake is continues to be open to further scrutiny! -

More power to you HTBWC. The beard thing stems from judge Rutherford's dislike of beards. He is the root cause of why this ridiculous rule has permeated through the witnesses world wide. I suggest we have a call to arms by rebelling en masse. To all you brothers out there, let's demolish this rule in 2016 and grow our beards!!!! -
