Not my first car, but the first I bought new: a Chevy pick-up I have taken to calling "Rusty" (for obvious reasons).

I wonder if it`s actually Copyrighted
"When it's taken, it's copyrighted" [from a card distributed by the Professional Photographers of America]
That's part of US copyright law:copyright occurs automatically when a work is created. When you snap a picture of your kid's birthday party--it's copyrighted. If you wrote your post to this board in the USA--copyrighted. Your kid's scribbling on the wall--copyrighted! Pretty much any written or visual work is eligible for automatic copyright under present US law.
Registering the copyright is another matter, that requires filing and paying fees. What that buys you is the ability to sue for more kinds of damages, and a stronger legal presumption that your claimed copyright is valid. But many works are copyrighted without being registered.
(I am not a lawyer, etc.)

Humerous new book re JW's about to be published.
by TheEndIsNigh ini'd really appreciate a few minutes of your time to have a look at my forthcoming book called : the end is nigh...again (but this time we really mean it.).
unlike many books about this subject it isn't dry or serious.
i've kept it light and aim to laugh at the craziness of that unlikely faith.

I think you missed an edit in the second paragraph. The two contrasting clauses have the same meaning. I think you meant to say this:
Firstly, the witnesses know perfectly well that the public don’t like them, but that’s okay; theywe like usthem even less.

Does anyone else feel like an alien?
by bluecanary inyou guys remember the show third rock from the sun?
if you don't, a group of aliens take on human bodies and pose as a family on earth.
they try to fit in but get things wrong and hilarity ensues.. yesterday my family celebrated easter.

Being the unbelieving mate at a JW wedding or "gathering" is another alien experience. I never felt comfortable or accepted there. I could feel them sizing me up as a prospect, rather than just accepting me as another member of Ex's family. I was never really comfortable, I felt like I couldn't be myself there.

Now a college graduate!!!
by Doubting Bro inwanted to let everyone know that i've finally graduated college with a bachelors degree!
ended up earning magna cum laude.. it's difficult to describe the sense of accomplishment.
i still kick myself for listening to the wts when i was a kid and forsaking "higher education".

How Do You Like This?
by snowbird inthe execution of john doe.
september 12, 1978, dawned bright and clear with a promise of an early fall coolness to counteract the oppressive heat that had lingered sullenly over the countryside.. in his prison cell, john doe ate his last breakfast, savoring each bite of the crisp bacon, fluffy eggs, and buttery grits.
the scalding hot coffee, laced with real cream, tasted like the nectar of gods as he swirled it around in his mouth before swallowing it with gusto.. he had arisen early, showering and shaving in the pre-dawn hours before his daily reading of the scriptures.

Zid,
I think you left in too much local color. Most folks outside the Centennial State have no idea who Alferd Packer was, or the reason for his notoriety.
It is on topic though: Alferd won his appeal, escaped the noose, and eventually was released to die a free man.
--------
Back on-topic: nice work, Sylvia! It's a well written story, whether there's hidden meaning in it or not.

Way to go, AwSnap! You're living proof there is life outside the org.
You kicked the bad habits, finished school, run your own business, and got out of debt: that's four big accomplishments.
It's great to hear success stories, thank you for dropping by to share yours. Don't be a stranger, OK?

Walking Dogs in 100-115 F. Summers
by White Dove ini'm thinking that the only time i'll be able to exercise my dog is after sundown at the dog park.
the pavement will be way too hot for her paw pads, too.
thinking of getting booties for her.. does anyone have suggestions for walking a dog in the desert in summer?.

Is there no way to go early in the morning? Take advantage of the coolest part of the day if you can, sunrise is much cooler than sunset. Try to find a cooler surface, anything but hot black asphalt. Use whatever shade you can find. Give them plenty of water, often: before, during, and after the walk. Remember, if you're hot in light smmer clothing, it's really hot for any creature wearing a permanent fur coat.
They don't call them the "dog days of summer" for nothing!
