i haven't even gotten half way and they already excluded one very important bit of information.
you'll recall that russell "lost" his faith and "turning away from church creeds and searching for truth, russell examined some leading oriental religions, only to find these unsatisfying".

Thanks, I've been working on that! I'm trying to reduce my bad associations with false prophets, hypocrites, back-stabbers, etc. I'm glad those efforts are making a noticable difference!

by looloo ini first came on this site around the time we were waiting the my daughters abuser to face justice in crown court , we got no justice (due to lack of evidence) but his other victims had a very small section of the abuse they suffered legally recognised , due to a deal being done with the defence , so we waited 20 months to give evidence just to be dropped at the last minute for a "deal" my by now ex best friend decided to stand by the child rapist !as did some of his family despite him being a disfellowshipped person (he was not disfellowshipped for child abuse ) and they are all jws !
isold my house and left the town i once loved as i couldnt bare to be in the same town as him when he left prison (he did 18 months of a 3 year sentence ) and see his supportive family knocking on doors taliking of truth made me feel like screaming at them "what about my poor girl , wheres your support for her , you hypocrites "my daughter is still very much affected by what happened to her age 13 , sexual, physical and mental abuse over months and months .
but i also have a 6 year old girl who was only 20 months old when i found out and reported the abuse to the police , and the long process started , for the next 20 moths i could think of nothing but giving evidence in court and trying to support my girl who was also terrified of that , my little one was 3 and a half when he was sentenced and i looked back and realised i had hardley taken any notice of her since i found out about my other girls abuse , i had missed out on so much of her best times , learning new words etc , i was too preoccupied .

jw sheperding calls
by Borgdrone inrecently i have been approached by an elder and asked if i could get going again in the door to door preaching activity due to not having any time in for three months.
i told him it was due to health reasons, etc.
now it seems i am due for a sheperding call in the very near future.

Read and heed what Ziddina said so well. Consider the consequences before doing anything provocative. If you have loved ones in the organization, or rely on them for support, then the slow fade is probably the wiser course. Remember that what you need most is your freedom, not "paybacks".

Day 2 of the Convention is over ... what's missing?
by wannabefree inday number 2 is done.. there was an audio drama, sure, it adds some excitement, hey, its different.. final talk "stay close to jehovah, as jeremiah did" ended with the release of the book ... god's word for us through jeremiah ... not a verse by verse consideration of prophecy, rather, what we can learn from jeremiah's life as a prophet, considers information from jeremiah and lamentations.
(of course informed readers of this site knew of this release already.).
noticibly missing ... jesus christ ... to me it was painfully obvious.. one talk i think was numbing our mind to accept the generation bomb tomorrow.. i couldn't help but realize that throughout the convention so far, the vast majority of scriptural references are from old testament (yes, it was hard not to say hebrew scriptures, so i just did).. i didn't realize it so much in the past, but it seems like jehovah's witnesses are trying to accomplish what the nation of israel couldn't, follow laws.

What do you mean when you say "God"?
If you're talking about the Pagan-Greco-Roman superman in the sky: no, to me that conceopt is human conceit. It places humanity above its place, which is being a small piece of creation, albeit one with the remarkable gift of having some awareness of where we fit into the universe. That awareness, imperfect and incomplete though it is, encompasses things we call "religion", "science" and "philosophy".
If you mean the reason behind creation, the truth the preceeded the origin of space and time which we call the "big bang", made that Genesis moment happen, and will still be there after the universe as we know it fades to cold darkness: then my answer is "Yes, of course!" God is not a material "being" like us mortal creatures. Human language and understanding can only vaguely comprehend the truth of "Why we are we here."
To me, limiting our understanding to a prehistoric concept of God is just as incorrect and disrepectful as glossing over the concept altogether. Neither recognizes the proper place of humanity, nor shows proper respect for the awesome gift of being able to see what that place is.
