That's what I figured, a donation they didn't want to keep. Libraries get many donated books from estates, people who don't want them, etc. The library here has used book sales several time a year, raising funds by selling off duplicates and items they don't have enough shelf space to hold.

Would Witnesses REALLY drink the "Kool-aid" if the faithful slave told them to? Yes or no?
by Witness 007 ina "spiritual leader" tells his followers the must put on rebok running shoes and "drink the cool-aid" to join a ufo in the tail of a comet and "go to a better world" so, afew dozen young people do just that to get "beamed up" to the mothership.
heavens gate cult 1990's.. my mother says "she is faithful to the organisation till her death" which makes me wonder if they ordered a mass suicide like the reverend jim jones did to escape a "great tribulation"....how many witnesses would really drink the cool-aid?...
without a gun pointed at their head of course!.

When I first began to see the control that organization had over my Ex, I asked myself the same question. When I came to grips with the "No Blood" policy, I knew the answer was "Yes!" It's the same thing, killing yourself or your children because the GB told you so.

Last Night's Intervention
by brotherdan ini'm afraid of starting a new post because i've stepped on a few feet here with my last post... but i still love you guys.. last night i went home to find my wife and her friend on the couch with the bible, ready to show me how i'm wrong and exercising "apostate thinking".
my wife said, "i am unable to fight you with the bible because you know more than me about it.
but k** knows more and will be able to show you how you are wrong.. so my wife went into the other room so as not to be stumbled by my discussion.

New Light sounds like a good name for a beer.
There's something wrong with the new recipe. It has a nasty after-taste, very bitter, not at all satisying.

"Do as the Roman(Catholic)s do" would be a good start. Highlights include:
- Implementation of the child protectiion policy is reviewed by a board, the majority of whom are not clergy nor church employees (Article 2)
- Confidentiality clauses will be included in settlements only by request of the vicim, not by request of the church (Article 3)
- All allegations oif abuse must be reported to civil authorities, with full cooperation in any civil investigation (Article 4)
- Strike one: you're out! (Article 5)
- Written, enforced policies for all clergy, employees and volunteers who have contact with children (Article 6)
- Open and transparent communication with the congregation and the public (Article 7)
- Background investigations of all candidates for the clergy, employees, and volunteers who have contact with children (Article 13)
"Given the extent of the problem of the sexual abuse of minors in our society, we are willing to cooperate with other churches and ecclesial communities, other religious bodies, institutions of learning, and other interested organizations in conducting research in this area." (Article 16)

When clergymen are ordained, they take an oath of secrecy that complicates the epidemic of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church.
The Wikipedia article linked in your post contradicts this statement.
The "oath of secrecy" is not at ordination as you claimed. It is limited to only the Canon Law trial, protecting the identities of both the accuser and the accused. Furthermore, unlike a Watchtower JC, "These matters are confidential only to the procedures within the Church, but do not preclude in any way for these matters to be brought to civil authorities for proper legal adjudication. The Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, revised June 2005, approved by the Vatican, requires that credible allegations of sexual abuse of children be reported to legal authorities." No ifs, ands, buts, or "two witness" rule; only a credible allegation is necessary (i.e. probable cause).
When a trial results in a conviction the penalty is publicly visible, so the offender is publicly exposed as being guilty even though the details are not public. "These penalties, such as suspension a divinis, deprivation of an office or rank, and reduction to the lay state, were of public character, even if the trial itself had been conducted with all due secrecy." The accuser's identity remains protected, the same as in a civil trial.
