  Babies Rule

  before i had my son 8 months ago a baby was just "another baby.

  " now i seem to be constantly noticing babies around town and watching them more intently to see how their personality is.

  i never really though of the fact that even very small babies have very prenounced personalities.

  i seriously doubt there's anyone with a spouse that's a jehovah's witness here.

  but if so, how do you absorb all the hateful rhetoric disseminated here without spitting it back in your spouses face?.

  Self control, and recognizing that replying in kind to the "hateful rhetoric" spat in my face would only make a bad situation worse.

  As Far as JW's and Thanksgiving go...

  it's one of the most confusing holidays to jw's.

  it doesn't specify who to give thanks to, it's a u.s. holiday that is semi-patriotic and semi-religious but not necessarily either one.. i suppose jw's should go out of their way to avoid giving thanks this thursday so jehovah doesn't get pissed at them for being so slightly normal worldly and maybe accidentally smite them if armageddon starts this thursday..

  What gets under my skin is how they completely secularize a holiday that has somehow retained some spiritual significance. They will cook and eat the big dinner, they will enjoy the day off from work, they will watch the football games on TV--but they will not acknowledge the day is dedicated to showing gratitude to God for the blessings we have received. They gladly partake of the superficial symbols, but deny the reason we have them!

  i'm so excited, im going out to buy my first christmas tree today!

  it will be small, but it will be great.

  since im still living separate from my jw hubby, im going to take advantage of the freedom.

  I'm going to decorate our 6' tree with real peppermint candy canes, this year - if hubby will leave them alone

  Dang it Zid, I thought I was done going to the grocery store this week--I knew I forgot something!

  Idea: get a box of the little ones for snacking, so he doesn't have to raid the tree.

  the largest wars of the last 200 years (World War I and II, Civil War, etc.) had no discernable religious causes.

  I would not go so far as to say "no discernable religious causes". The Civil War was motivated by the abolitionist movement, and that was religiously based. It wasn't a sectarian religious war, but religious beliefs did play a significant part in bringing about the conflict.

  i just got a call from jamie this afternoon, saying she found her husband in the bathroom, not breathing.

  i've not had the chance to speak to her, she left me a voice mail.

  but i'm very worried.

  the last two yrs i had small porch type trees this year i went big !

  it helps that i work in a gift store that has christmas yr round .

  Flying to Orlando tomorrow, my daughter is in the hospital

  my daughter is in the hospital with pneumonia, and possibly a blood clot in her lung.

  they'll be testing through the night...apparently, her heart is enlarged as well.

  she is scared... and if her jw father catches wind of it, he will be there trying to intefere with her treatment... he lives close by to her, so i'll be flying down in the morning....to head him off at the pass.

  The worst type of liar is one who believes his own lies, and thus is more convincing when telling those lies to others. Cult leaders, political demagogues, etc.
