  As for the Witness who originally aided me, he got furious when I told him I could not in good conscience return to the organization.

  So, it appears he wanted his help to convince you to return to the Kingdom Hall: conditional love, aka manipulation.

  They helped me when so-called Christians would not.

  "Would not", or "were not allowed to"? You said it yourself; he took a risk by taking you in, and you both knew you should hide it from your congregations. When a member must hide a charitable act from their "christian" congregation, that speaks very poorly of the organization.

  I committed un-suicide yesterday

  yesterday i opened my wallet and took a long look at the (no) blood card prominently displayed inside.

  i have been convinced that this is not the truth for a couple of years now, and am trying to figure out whether to fade or da.

  it hit me hard yesterday that with this piece of paper in my wallet, i could possibly end up dying for beliefs i no longer hold.

  So, I committed un-suicide by walking to the office shredder and watching the DPA card be cross-cut into ribbons.

  A wise choice, congratulations! May I suggest that you complete the transformation by getting a blood donor ID card to replace it with? Show that you've converted from wasting lives to preserving them!

  Beth Sarim, Rutherford and ancient worthies

  why did they include the idea that rutherford would only accept the mansion if it was deeded to the ancient worthies?

  the article clearly states the house was for rutherford so why add a crazy notion that its going to be turned over to the bible worthies upon their imminent return?

  it scream cult when they included this crazy notion of ancients beeing on the deed.. if wts followers didn't mind rutherford having a mansion when the country was entering an economic downturn why would they want to report the idea of the building being deeded to king david?

  In 1931, wts followers already knew 1925 failed so why pursue a failed prophesy and bring a spotlight to this crazy idea?

  Huxley described this. They have been conditioned to accept facts without processing them, a facet of Cognitive Dissonance. Thus they were not conscious that the prophecy had failed:

  I don't remember who or where (maybe an inspirational poster from the '70s?), it's been a long time, but that phrase stuck in my memory. The point being, who says you must be going somewhere else, that the destination is fixed before the first step is taken? It is entirely reasonable to take a journey with no particular destination in mind, just knowing that place you left isn't where you want to be right now.

  I've been outed...

  so this weekend my wife had a major grand mal seizure for the first time in her life.

  she was rushed to the er.

  a few hours later while i was at her side she had another major one.. it was the scariest moment in my life.

  She told her dad that it is because I am an apostate. He called the elders on me last night and told them that I was such an extreme apostate that I am giving my wife medical problems.

  Dan, please re-read Lady Lee's thread on "Abusive Women and Manipulation". Don't let anybody beat you up emotionally, saying it's all your fault. Nobody is perfect, but those who try to blame somebody else instead of solving the problem aren't admitting their own faults. Please proceed cautiously, because it sounds like a very delicate situation you are in. Tell the JC you have much more important things to attend to, thank you very much, and don't let the door hit you in the butt...because that's the truth!

  do you think that jw are more stressed out than worldly people.

  like feeling that they are not doing enought to please jehovah, not doing enought field service and not attending enought meeting etc.

  if this is the case on top of most jw suffer from depression.

  Faith cannot substitute for reason as a means of knowledge, nor can it supplement reason.

  The second part is where I disagree. This statement is based on the assumption that those ideas which have not been proven (or disproven) have no value. That is an internal contradiction, because that very assumption cannot be proven nor disproven: it is itself an article of faith!

  "Objectivism" itself is faith, the hubris, that knowing absolute truth through reason is even possible. Faith is how we react to the realization, the humility, that the more we learn through reason, the more we realize just how limited our reasoning is.

  the wbt$ has set themselves up as spokesman for god..jesus is out of a job..in watchtower world..the wbt$=god.

  all images are forbidden in watchtower world..except the watchtower image... the wbt$ gods name jehovah,is a 14th century catholic translation mistake... the wbt$ doesn`t like jw`s to take sundays off..screw the sabbath... .

  Theres people here who have done that,to get out of abusive marraiges...

  No offense was intended, I apologize to anyone my poor example offended.

  I agree it's a shame (or worse) to force people to choose between leaving their faith, friends and relatives or leaving an abusive relationship. The brain says to flee the abuser and don't look back, while the heart is saying you can't leave other loved ones behind. If forcing people into this dilemna isn't evil, what is?
