  The Prosperity Gospel---Your Opinion?

  benny hinn is one of those preachers that tell you if you give $$$ to their ministry, you will get 10 fold!.

  i never understood why people do give $$$ and these preachers live the high life and encourage their listeners to do the same.

  the watchower's kingdumb halls can't even pay their electric bills and you see these other "ministries"making hand over fist.

  On these shows though, the parishoners DO look good!

  I see at least two reasons for that.

  First, they have a target demographic and stick to it: people who already have tasted some success and want more, MORE, MORE! They aren't looking for new members at the rescue mission; they preach in the suburbs--not the slums.

  Second, it is just what Minimus called it: a show. Not everybody who's there will be on the camera, only those who project the desired image. Those who don't fit in won't be part of the show. They are selling a dream, and that vision is the only one you'll see. Does this remind you of another organization that likes to keep the congregation clean?

  your fellow jw's mates that are df'd for drug abuse, drunkeness, and wild sex orgies refuse to talk to you because you are bad association.. you know you are a jw apostate when....... you come by to visit your jw parents, they open the door and say they are not interested.. you know you are a jw apostate when........ the wts takes your contribution for the wwf but refuses to send you a thank you letter.. you know you are a jw apostate when....... you can buy tupperware at a yard sale and not worry it has a demon preserved inside.. you know you are a jw apostate when........ you can visit jwn and not feel guillty for weeks at a time.

  you know you are a jw apostate when......... the girls at the kh find you more mysterious and sexy now that your df'd.

  while reading an interlinear of the greek scriptures, i noticed where "spiritism" was put in place of "druggery", which is from the greek word, pharmakia.

  now that is where we get pharmacy from.

  is this not hypocritical though?

  Yes, but the question is how best to deal with them? Arguing with the trolls is giving them just what they want. Cutting them down and ignoring them is exactly the wrong thing to do to somebody who really is new and confused, and trolls can be pretty good newbie impersonators (at least for a while). My best guess is to give a calm, honest answer even if it may be a dishonest question: that denies the troll the satisfaction of stirring up turmoil on the board, and doesn't scare away sincere (but naive) newcomers, which many of us once were.

  I hate my gravatar & how it follows me around

  how can i be rid of my gravatar it has followed me even though i've had to change my username because of being rumbled & i find it an intrusion.. any advice would be greatly appreciated.. hoab.

  You said it, Darth Fader! The only way around the privacy problem I can see is to have another email account and letting the gravatars chase around that alias instead of my real address. Now the cat is out of the bag.

  Sorry to hear about the trouble at mediation, Aussie. Twelve years you've put with this--you have reason to be upset! Don't lash out or do something rash that she can hold against you, just vent here instead. Your kids need you too much.

  Do your kids have cell phones, and if not could you afford to get phones for them? That's one way you can keep in touch with less interference from the Ex (especially via texting). Think about asking the family court or mediator for "unlimited phone contact at reasonable hours", if that would help you. I don't know how the laws work with that in Australia, but it's something my attorney was able to arrange for me. BTW, I have the phones on my family plan in my name, so the Ex doesn't get to see how many or how long the calls are.
