I really & truly believed that Jehovah was whispering things into their ears with Holy Spirit. I was not in awe...I hated most of them. But I was petrified and felt guilty for that.
I've been 'out' for many years, but I was called into the Kingdom Hall a couple years ago to discuss the matter of my fighting parents. My parents have been bitter and filled with hatred for each other since I was a child, yet my father was recently appointed an elder. Sitting in the back room with 2 elders, my husband, my 2 siblings & their spouses....it was really quite rediculous. I looked at my siblings and saw the 'awe' in their eyes for everything the elders were saying. I did a good job of not making it about me . ..but it was REALLY tough not to tell the elders that they are so full of shit & walk out.

what is the point?

Mad Sweeny, I've actually never been to a meet-up. I assume we'll just go to a coffee house and chat, knowing we have the jw experience in common. We'll probably go around and hear each other's stories, and see how far we've come since exiting the witnesses. My husband's been to one in Charlotte before, and he enjoyed it. Snoozy, we'll see about the pics . Don't worry Mad Sweeny, there are no undercover photographers lurking around. Any pics that would be taken or posted would have every person's permission.
