It was awesome to meet Sweet Pea & Besty on our last trip out west. Dagney, I hope to meet you one day. I'm going to try and get out west next June (who wouldve thought we'd all be living in 2011???) I wish you all the best and hope to meet you next year!

SoCal meetup
by Dagney inwe have a visitor from far away with us, "hopscotch" as she is known on the board.. we would to put out a "shout-out" for any and all who would like to join us for a meetup this coming weekend, august 21 or 22. we are open to suggestions for where and when.
i would like to encourage any in the area, and even if you are not, to join us.
i cannot tell you how wonderful it is to meet up with the kindred spirits of those who are on the journey we are all on.

JWs and Friends on AOL

i was a wt worshipper at the time and remember those evil apostates with no lives always hanging out in the room persecuting us poor jws.. some of the apostates i remember (won't give the full sn or correct spelling, even if i could remember, lol) are docbob, lifev*lue, cygnus (or something like that).
the people in there were my first exposure to any kind of "apostate" material and i like to think that some of that stuck in my subconscious even after my baptism.. jws i remember are ragdoll, catnip, piano and jysixtyjw.. i remember on aol if users had the same named wav file, you could cause that sound to play on their system by typing "{s filename" into the chatroom.

There is SOooOOOooo much that has pagan origins. Even jw's practice many things that came from paganism. I'm to the point where I dont believe paganism is even wrong. I've met some beautiful pagans, and I think God loves them just as he loves me. We're all in this together.

Parents who can't see the truth about their kids
by MMXIV injust discovered that my nephew, whose parents are both dubs is the school bully.
he was sent home for beating a kid up, he was also caught trying to steel a bike from a boy half his size.
apparently it's because his teachers are "useless" and "he has to bully in case he becomes a victim".

I was a bully. I used to watch those Jerry Springer episodes when theyd send the kids to boot camp, and I'd cry when nobody was looking. Everybody said how awful those kids were (and me), but was it really my fault? I had no control of my raging temper, but my parents gave me junk food all the time. Milk, ice cream, chocolate...etc. There was no consistency in my discipline. One day, everything would be fine. The next day, I'd do the same thing and get my butt whipped like crazy.
These days, when I see bullies, I look straight to the parents. And, of course, if JWs are involved....THATS..A...BIGGIE.

Essan, it certainly does not make sense. I figured the jw's HAVE to have more than just the scriptures stating the 144,000 is literal. I have some jw books shoved into a box somewhere here...maybe I'll dig through the rubbish.

Im searching and searching, but not finding what I need. What scriptures do the jw's use to show that the Governing Body is put in the position to mediate between the rank and file and God Almighty? And what refutable points are there? All scriptures I've read recently show that Jesus was talking to EVERYONE who practiced faith in him. Do the jw's believe that all those people were part of the 144,000? How many people were even alive back then? I just can't understand how they can say there's only 144,000, especially when those scriptures that say 144,000 are followed by things like "they will be only virgins"... Sorry for the ramble. Hopefully, I can get some answers here. Thanks.

Jesus or Governing Body...Who's the Mediator?

would they admit that?...or would they say that jesus is?
from what i've seen here, they seem to acknowledge that the governing body/fds mediates.
