The Holiday Thread
by SweetBabyCheezits in[i'm sure this thread comes up several times a year by us noobs but it's new for me.
btw, i'm not advocating or opposing the celebration of holidays, just giving a perspective we've taken recently.].
okay, so before we got df'd a few weeks back, we weren't sure if we were going to start celebrating holidays... for a few reasons:.

I aspire to be like you and your wifey one day, SBC. I've had real trees up in our home in the past, but the hubby still isn't comfortable with them. So I'm putting one up in my office instead. It makes me feel a little melancholy, to be honest.
I can't believe how many people are putting up their trees already...it makes me want to do so as well! But I just keep thinking its too early! Ohhh, decisions decisions

by Evidently Apostate intodays watchtower was especially nauseating but during the study one of them made the comment concerning the big a " jehovahs timetable is not contingent on all nations being saturated by the good news".
the study conductor reafirmed his point and then continued.. wait a fuggin minute!

True, untouched territories still exist, and it may be that in Jehovah’s due time, a large door leading to greater activity will open. (1 Corinthians 16:9) Nevertheless, the Bible does not state that Jehovah will wait until every individual on earth has received a personal witness.Rather, the good news must be preached to Jehovah’s satisfaction. Then the end will come.—Compare Matthew 10:23.
This infuriates me. Didn't they used to push it in the 80's that the 'good news would be preached in ALL the inhabited earth (or land...can't remember the exact phrase)....?

Do you feel sorry for the family members who shun you?
by SweetBabyCheezits inas each instance of shunning happens to me, it seems even more ridiculous than the last.. this weekend i took our kids to the park - wife opted out, understandably - and we let our daughter call my parents to inform them we'd be there.
this was my first time in the presence of my parents since our df announcement two weeks ago.. my mom and dad were 10-20 feet away much of the time and yet they never said a greeting or.. well anything.
at one point my daughter, who is aware of the shunning, mistakenly thought my mom called my name and shouted excitedly, "mawmaw, were you talking to daddy??

I'm not trying to make excuses for my mom but I see her as truly incapacitated by the WT and my dad. She wants to be loyal to god and thinks that means being submissive to Dad and the WT. She has very low self-esteem and doesn't think she's capable of trusting herself.
I do not think you are alone with this comment. My sister is shunning me, and I flip flop betweeen your reasoning here and the reasoning that she's still an adult and is choosing to ignore/shun me. I had family in town recently, and it was so awkward. There were times when I had to make sure I was working so that she'd have time to hang out with them without me. It felt pretty rediculous and degrading, and I was mad at myself for working to keep myself out of the picture.
I think this is all still fresh in your parent's minds. In your other thread where you mentioned your dad and the hugs goodbye & he said something like, "Good grief! How many times do we have to do this??!" ..... that stuck with me. It really reminded me of my own father. But now years have passed, and things have gotten MUCH better. He's still an elder, but he KNOWS I am never coming back & will now associate with me. Then again, I am not DF'd

Your mom has made her Choice..
She can blame that choice on anyone she wants..It`s still her choice..
Regardless of age..These people behave like Children..
I couldnt agree more.

My husband's first exposure to being shunned by family ......
by troubled mind infriday we were in the grocery store shopping .both of us were in a very good mood because our son was coming home for a visit ,and we were planning on some fun activities .
then around the end of the aisle comes by husbands sister in law ( she is married to his step brother that is an elder) we nearly bump into her literally we are that close ...so i say ," oh hi ***** !
" she would not even look at us and the expression on her face gave me chills ..pure contempt .

I'm sorry for you AND your hubby. Can you give us a brief description of your situation? Are you DF'd or DA'd? And he has no desire to get out of the Witnesses? You've been married so long and seem so happy.....
I hate SHUNNING! Argh!

Did your family decorate for the Seasons?
by AwSnap ini don't ever remember my family buying a "fall" wreath, or a snowman soap dispenser.
the more i think about it, the more i realize just how .
bland my jw-life was.

But it seems like my generation did start to put stuff up that was seasonal once we got married or moved out.
Please define "generation", Kitten Whiskers. Generation, the jw definition? Or Generation, the REAL definition.... ? Lmao
It just popped into my mind the other day when I was in the "autumn" isle at Walmart. I had a little bit of anxiety, and I wondered where that was coming from. I think I know now

Field Service Drains Me....
by shadowolf inat this point i absolutely hate field service.
i have to keep going hough, or else the brothers in my group will be all over my back.

I believe those people who criticized you did not realize that you're a younger person.
Ever since being a kid, field service drained me. I never read the magazines beforehand and I always felt anxious presenting something i didnt even know about or believe in.
Nobody knows your situation or family dynamics, but I think you're going to be just fine. You have no idea how wonderful the "world" can be. Hopefully one day you can get over all the things that you hate and that drain you, and start finding things that make you happy.
Best wishes.

Its very tough to do when you're related to the person and they wont admit they have a problem. Should we? absolutely. Its very tough to do at times though
