  i'm starting to notice a very disturbing pattern:.

  i respond to a thread with a post.. i come back a day or two later only to find that thread is dead.. i've killed it and no one else has posted since!.

  i've done this quite a few times lately.

  a "Blood" experience...

  i was speaking with a lady today & found out she's been a nurse in the blood transfusion unit at our hospital for the past 15 years.

  i said, "i have an off-the-wall question for you...i was having a discussion with somebody about jehovah's witnesses.

  i know they're not allowed to get blood transfusions but they can get fractions, right?

  By the way, I have a correction to make from 2 comments above: I thought the information came from the Reasoning book, but it actually came from "Keep Yourselves In God's Love", pgs 215-218

  However, I DID look up the Reasoning Book information on blood and here's what it has to say:

  pg. 71

  Animal

  Blood flesh may be eaten,but not the Blood

  Gen. 9:3, 4: “Every moving animal that is alive may serve as food for you. As in the case of green vegetation, I do give it all to you. Only flesh with its soul—its blood—you must not eat.”

  Any animal used for food should be properly bled. One that is strangled or that dies in a trap or that is found after it has died is not suitable for food. (Acts 15:19, 20; compare Leviticus 17:13-16.) Similarly, any food to which whole blood or even some blood fraction has been added should not be eaten.

  pg. 73 Is a transfusion really the same as eating blood?

  In a hospital, when a patient cannot eat through his mouth, he is fed intravenously. Now, would a person who never put blood into his mouth but who accepted blood by transfusion really be obeying the command to “keep abstaining from . . . blood”? (Acts 15:29) To use a comparison, consider a man who is told by the doctor that he must abstain from alcohol. Would he be obedient if he quit drinking alcohol but had it put directly into his veins?

  why are there so many 'debbie downers' in this world?

  you'd be *shocked* as to how many jw's are saying on facebook about "why do people choose one day a year to show thanks?

  you should really show thanks everyday" .

  Rebel, I am too... I made a faux-turkey from Quorn (the brand) and it was the best fake meat I've ever tried! Their chicken nuggets are good too.

  Grrr I'm so peeved.

  last night i was at my 'friends' house she hasnt been to the meetings for about two years now, but let's have it said: in the twelve years i have known here shes done about two good stints of attending, been dfd and gone back etc.

  she lives with her boyfriend.. well i happened to just mention something about my family and she launched into this whole don't attack the witnesses you know its right barage at me.

  i hadn't even mentioned religion.

  she basically seems to think the only reason I say I dont believe it is because I'm sulking that I got DFd and 'I know its the truth' and the fact that I am ostracised, I just need to learn to take it on the chin. If this girl really is your friend, I'd suggest whipping out some tips from Steven Hassan's book, "Combatting Cult Mind Control". If she's not really your friend, then having a sit-down heart-to-heart might be appropriate so you can tell her exactly what you're thinking. If you think there's hope to get her MIND out of the religion, throwing in subtle questions to get her thinking would be a good way to go. I'm sorry she was an a$$. Why is it that the sweetest people have to go through so much undeserved crap?

  Well, I had a little email conversation with one of the jw's on my facebook. Here was part of her response:

  Trust me I know what you mean when it comes to volunteer events "the world" to those "not in the world", but when I was speaking generally when I said "the world". (yeeeeahhhh riiiiight)<---awsnaps thought I know you must be a little stressful right now because you're not a practicing Jehavah's Witnesses or maybe you don't believe the same things you were taught). (or maybe I'm only stressed out when I see idiots make comments about how the world doesn't show thanks during other parts of the year)

  She was one of the folks who'd posted something like "how come people in the world don't volunteer and show gratitude except during the 'season of giving'??!" So I said to her that, in my own experience, whenever I volunteer at functions throughout the year, the ratio of those "in the world" vs. those "not in the world" is quite vast.

  I am so sorry josie. You seem like a sweet person and that's wrong they didn't include you. I 100% agree with Mary that they don't want to risk having anybody attest to their hypocritical behavior. It's okay to cry sometimes
