i'm on my way home from work and had to detour due to an accident on the highway.
i passed a wal-mart and instead of just sitting in the traffic, i pulled in to get some stuff i needed for the garden.. on my way out, i spot someone who appears to be selling something (rather common in parking lots here in south florida).
anyway, as i got closer, here was a brother sitting in a lawn chair under a tree on one of the little grassy areas where they plant the trees in the parking lot.. at his side, he had pulled a wal-mart shopping cart up on the grass.
That's some lazy-azz witnessing!

is it me - or are we seeing these crazed magazines just anywhere and everywhere these days ??
The dubs are getting sloppy and lazy with placements. I see mags and tracts in restrooms, most govt buildings, elevators, trains, laying to the sidewalk. I even saw them at Barnes and Nobles interspersed with the periodicals, it's insane.
i remember years ago playing a game at gatherings wherein the object was to get into the new system.
they would hold up a nwt or a knowledge book (or similar)and after clearing their throat would state the name of the book that they were holding and state that if you read it and apply it you would get into the new system.
after which you were told whether or not you made it into the new system by precisely repeating what you had heard.
Both games were played at the gatherings in my area and the Noah's Ark game. The metaphors are on point!

I went to the library a couple of years ago looking for secular support of 607 and didn't find any. Found plenty on 586/587! I copied what i found to compare with what's on the WT cd; whole doctrine just fell for me. Thanks for doing this.

i would spend the whole study working out my answer, getting it world perfect in my head, as i put my hand up i would be shaking, and afterwards shaking too.. then there would always be sister perfect elderette who would answer up without turning a hair and give a sermon of her own, usualy using the point i had just made as if i hadn't made it in the right way and therefore it was up to her to correct it.. strangly enough, i loved "answering up" in the classroom, never had any trouble.... a joy or pain?
Hated it with a passion! I really had to force myself to comment and i always kept it short. It seemed like your spirituality was being judged and measured by your comment.

i vaguely remember looking at this board a few years ago, before i ever considered leaving the borg, and being appalled at the evil and hateful attitudes i saw here and scared to death of reading any further.. now i go back through years and years of posts and there is no evil or hate there at all.
it's one of the most kind and welcoming boards i've encountered since the invention of the internet.. that is how well borg indoctrination works.

Yes, i stumbled on JWD about eight years ago. I stayed up all night reading the threads. The doctrinal threads didn't interest me at the time, i was moved by the personal experiences everyone had within their congs. At the time, i concluded that WT was still being used by god but was run by imperfect people. So i vowed not to come back. Then 'new light' about the generation, heavenly calling reopening, no study groups led me back to this site. I lurked for 2 years and joined this year.
