Adults with imaginary friends are stupid.
by alice.in.wonderland inhere on jehovahs-witness.net i have come across theists, atheists and those that are agnostic that all claim to be friends because they're ex-witnesses like it is all that is needed for religious unity.. .
why isn't this on the ad?.
because every atheist i've talked to believes jehovah's witnesses are just another organization of stupid adults with imaginary friends, just a splinter of mainstream christianity a lot like the branch davidians.

DC 2010 Release - The Origin of Life and its many misquotes
by Designer Stubble inlooking up all the references is a lot of work - one of the reasons nobody normally verifies these, but trust the writers.
as you will see, the writers are banking on this, but it is not a good thing to trust the wtbts writers.
please find the bibliography worked out for quotes 38-51, covering the heading "what about human evolution".. interesting is that many quotes are from the preface of books, where the authors honestly explain the difficulties and assumptions related to evolutionary science.. what about human evolution?.

Why Did I Allow My Hopes to Get Raised?
by XJW4EVR ina couple of months back, my son asked me to get in touch with my jw/elder father.
he is planning a trip to colorado to visit his mother's family there, and thought it would be good to see his grandfather.
since i have no contact with my father, i asked my cousin to broach the subject with him.

I'm sorry that your are going thru this.
Sounds like your father wants to hear how you are doing without actually having to talk to you. I have family like this. They are more than happy to receive email, facebook updates, letters, cards, texts, voicemails but they will never pick up the phone or visit in real life. And are all too happy to speak of your goings on to others, as if they are in constant contact with you. Very hurtful and annoying, if you don't see it for what it is.

Blondie's Comments You Will Not Hear at the 06-13-10 WT Study (HOLY SPIRIT)
by blondie incomments you will not hear at the 06-13-10 wt study (april 15, 2010, pages 7-11 (purpose).
as we have seen, jehovah used his spirit in the past to protect individuals as well as the nation of israel as a whole.
why doesnt god protect individuals today?.

Thanks Blondie, your comments are dead on.
I'm visiting family this weekend and went to their meeting. The tone for the study with one of the songs "Light Get Brighter". This Sunday was no different from any other Sunday. Although i didn't sense any shock or confusion when the 'nu lite' paragraphs were read, no one raised their hand to comment on them either. Two elders gave their comments, short and to the point. They covered the 'nu lite' box and moved on.

Memorial Service at Khall - would you go (even as a DF'd exJW)?
by babygirl30 ini ask because a friend of mine (who stays in touch once in awhile) had made it clear to me about 6 mos ago that he didn't care if i was df'd or not - that he still would speak to me and check up on me.
well his parents are both disabled, and his father recently died in the house!
so he sends me a text telling his father passed - and i told him i would call him.

This is tough.
Your ex who you PFA'd may be there
Since you associated with this KH they will be in full shun mode
Your friend has lost a parent and needs support
he doesn't want me to feel 'awkward' about coming because HE would not act 'off' around me and he would acknowledge me IN FRONT of everyone.
It sounds like he would understand if you decide not to go. If you go, under the circumstances, he could get away with speaking to you. But I doubt if any of the other 'friends' in attendance would speak to you because of history. Going with someone could buffer the shunning. Could you go with his sister? It sounds like she would be in the same situation you would be in.

Did your congregation have "Talent" Shows?
by lepermessiah ini saw this video on youtube and didnt know if i should laugh or crawl into the fetal position.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abm0t-qhllc&feature=related.
.
we had several "talent" shows over the years in my original congregation - it was the only annual gathering more nauseating that the meetings.. my friend and i would always bring our walkmans and blare heavy metal in the back - hoping to block out the embarassing crap on the stage.you always had a few older ones get up on stage and slaughter a kingdumb song.

My halls had talent shows, some of the bible-based variety and some displaying the not-so talented singing/poetry reading/instrument playing abilities of the members. The theocratic talent shows were almost always boring, some had cute skits with funny scripts. But most sucked, bordering on WT-style dramas.
The talent shows featuring 'secular' entertain were better, it truly depended on if the performer had natural talent. I rocked as Tina Turner one year, lip-syncing of course. The show was put together by this controlling MS, you would've thought it was a Broadway production. My first and last participation in a talent show.
