because, the person i really want to give a piece of my mind to is an elder and my, sometimes, self-righteous brother.
twice in my presence, he brought up cases of sisters marrying unbelievers and how they should be "marked" because of marrying outside the "truth".

I guess they just want to make an example out of her , so other sisters don't get any ideas for living their own life.
The dub interpretation of 1 Cor 7:39 only serves to benefit a selfish Organization who do not care about the happiness and well-being of women. Who will sell the magazines, clean the bathrooms, bring in new WT salespersons if every sister gets wise and hooks up with non-JW's.
Please don't take your brothers scare tactics to heart. There are plenty of good non-JW men. PM me if you want to commiserate.

Need help fact checking public talk at the DC

it was interesting because it basically said the witnesses used the bible to fortell the fall of the axis powers in wwii.
now when i first heard the speaker say it - my ears perked up.

Circuit Overseers, their roles, and their spouses
by garyneal inmy wife and i took a trip yesterday to deliver her camera to her mom so she may take it with her as she goes to kentucky where the need is greattm.
her mom is currently still in virginia staying with some brothers there while she gets schooled in giving talks (at least i think that is what she is doing).
i met the co's wife at the petersburg kh and after we dropped the camera off, my wife and i went to have dinner before returning home.. i ask about circuit overseers and their role because i was intrigued to learn that the kh we went to had an apartment for the co.. apparently, co's have no job of their own outside the watchtower activities and while my wife insisted that they did not 'take a vow of poverty' like the catholic clergy do, they technically do.

I'm pretty sure that CO's take a vow of poverty like Bethelites. And most wives of CO's seem aloof, lonely and miserable. They are just along for the ride on the WT corporate ladder. They have their own groupies, the pioneers and elderettes.

i have not put down my whole story on this board but enough for everyone to know that my problem with the "truth" is sex offenders.. i have fought and fought the elders and they win.
they will allow child molesters and i cannot stop that.

IA with Zid, stalking is a serious offense. Get a restraining order pronto. And if he is on probation/parole, contact his parole officer. Stalking is a technical violation of any sentence he is being supervised for. Also, try contacting the judge who sentenced him. They would love hear all about his stalking and baby-holding activities. Most of this info can be found out at the local courthouse, it's public info.
And I'm not adverse to a woman carrying a concealed weapon as long as one has the proper training and paperwork.

Just Heard Some Shocking News
by jookbeard ina predatory jw paedophile micheal porter (uk) who has a 15 year record of abuse including the rape of his own baby but somehow evaded jail now is a member of my old congregation;wimbledon.
words fail me, to think of the years of shunning that these idiots have heaped upon me even by my own family and this piece of shit was seen a this years memorial laughing and joking with the congregation.
strange that this news story slipped passed me when it was broadcast by the british media in 2007..

The issue is that in these places of worship children are even more vulnerable and trusting of adults. That means that we have to be scrupulous in making sure that they are right to place trust in the elders. The elders are just men with no special insights or training. However well meaning they are they are not equipped for this and it is unfair to expect them to police this man. The fact that he appeared relaxed at a public meeting shows that he is already comfortable within that environment and that people are comfortable with him.
The procedure is flawed we should be prudent enough to protect the flock before the event rather than applaud how well we deal with it after.

@Podobear - So anyone drawing attention to the pedo in this congregation is in physical danger from violent pedo rings?
Also, please post the press reports (or links) regarding the impeccable actions of JW in this matter? The report (and links) Betsy posted seem to suggest otherwise.

You come to my door and I feel like I have to say yes to anything you say
by dgp insince i am among witnesses, i am sure that most of you had more than one door slammed to your face.
i have not had that experience, yet i think it must be awful to walk the streets knowing full well that most people aren't remotely interested in what you have to say, and will probably mistreat you.
yet, i think i can share the other side of the coin.. i believe that one of the many reasons whyh door-to-door preaching fails is the fact that, even if you're willing to listen to the person, very quickly you realize that the questions and the material presented to you are all organized so you can only say "yes" to whatever the witness says.

The literature and scripted presentations are all designed to have that effect. A crime-free paradise, resurrected loved ones, living forever are dangled as a carrot early on in the indoctrination process. Who would say no to any of these things?
