i apologize if this topic was already covered, i didn't have time to look thru several pages of posts.... after several years of fighting their ban in russia.

several footnotes in the nwt correctly define apostasy as "unfaithfulness".. that is spiritual unfaithfulness/adultery/fornication/prostitution/harlotry.. in scripture the jews were called (spiritual) prostitutes (37 times in ezekiel chapters 16 and 23).. they claimed a relationship with the god of abraham.. yet they lusted after other gods.. and they had frequent wanton spiritual intercourse with these gods.. to cover-up their own lewd apostasy the watctower lyingly redefines the word to mean a dissenter (against the watchtower).. anyone who dissents is labelled an apostate.. ray franz discovered their apostasy.. he dissented.. he exposed their spiritual harlotry in detail (isocf and coc).. they lyingly labelled him an apostate.. and many if not most exjws say this is all fine.. even worse, many exjws proudly wear the label.. to show their proud support of watchtower lies and cover-ups.. how sad....
Sorry Farkel.
In essence, what I am trying to say, is that by accepting and parading the label "apostate", and the deception on which it is based, we are supporting and promoting Watchtower lies and cover-ups (in this particular area, namely that dissenting against WBTS corruption and WBTS dysfunction equals apostasy).
What are your views on this, mate?
years ago, the society's speakers used to give many off the cuff statements.
a lot of personal opinions and questionable remarks.. anything ever stand out for you in this area?.
One uneducated orthodox control-freak COBE was annoyed that the elders had ignored his instructions to take some refuse drums to the tip/dump that he sarcastically berated them from the platform saying that he had seen two angels do the job.
The spirit with which this was done was so offensive, vitriolic and arrogant that I (as one of the R&F) came within an inch of physically removing him from the platform and banning him from returning.
While I assume everyone was gobsmacked, it seems no one ever had the courage to challenge his characteristically outrageous behaviour.

CO: "If it is not in harmony with divine teaching it is teaching of demons".
Elderette: "It is better to be wrong with the society, than right on your own".
Connecting the dots (CO + Elderette): "It is better to eat at the table of demons with the society, than at God's table on your own."
so, i eventually decided that this place wasn't the apostate hot bed i was led to believe ;-), (or maybe i am now an apostate!
but i don't feel like one.)..
i was brought up in "the truth".. i loved it.
That phrase could and should be immortalised, I reckon, Cofty.
(I'm hetero BTW).
a young, progressive, kind elder wants to have a chat with me on sunday after the meeting.
we've talked before and been quite open about the judgemental attitudes 'we' have as witnesses, and he was completely in agreement, stating that he's never understood the beard thing among other issues, and wants to see the society moving forward by change..
i've no doubt he just wants to encourage me to up my hours or reach out again, but it's nerve wracking, as i know i'll say something i'll regret.
What Black Sheep and ABibleStudent said.
Plus Rufus T. Firefly: "NEVER speak to two [or more] elders. I learned the hard way that they WILL lie and use one another as witnesses against you. I prefer requesting that the elder put anything he has to say to you in a letter. That scares them shitless, to put it mildly."
at the meeting last night i was approached by an elder and he asked me what my schedule was like for the next week or so.
i told him im not sure ill have to tet back with him and i asked why and he said kindly but in an odd sort of way "for a visit".
my wife and i have not gone out in field service and have been missing meeting left and right mostly due to sickness and family.
The balance of power needs to be corrected.
You ask the questions.
They provide satisfying answers.
Not the other way around.
(Some of my favourite questions: "what is the Good News according to Paul?" or "Is legalism apostasy").
i am just wondering about all of you who have been on this site for long.
in all of the events that have happened since 2000 (for example, september 11th), have you at any point, even you die-hard apostates, felt like "oooh sh!t... i should go back to the kh"... just to have the world survive the latest disaster?.
what was the worst event for you, in terms of saying... "did i mess up???
"Amen" Wasanelder Once.
Uncovering darkness masquerading as light takes time and effort.
In time one "sees" the full extent of the cult leaders' spiritual confusion, drunkenness, and insanity.
Then there simply is no desire to go back to following these self-congratulatory fools ever.
so, i eventually decided that this place wasn't the apostate hot bed i was led to believe ;-), (or maybe i am now an apostate!

Welcome SuperBoy.
Good on you for not being bitter about your time in the cult, and the challenges you faced.
I pray that in time you will once again find someone to share your life with.
i've been in need of a new laptop for a long time.
no, i mean it - a really long time.
the old dell that we have has a floppy lid and is woefully underpowered although it does build up my upper body strength every time i pick it up.. the last 6 months has been a bad time to buy something new though with the haswell processors on the horizon promising better battery life and also screen technology seems to have been leaping ahead recently to a new hi-dpi standard.. so apple finally released their mac book pro and at the same time dell has released an xps 15 ultrabook which looks like a pretty good alternative and probably better 'value'.. pro's and con's?
Not having your tech smarts, stamina or patience Simon, I'm "forced" to avoid buying newly released gear, until most of the bugs have been sorted.
Thanks for the details.
I'm contemplating a pathway to quitting my Microsoft (bloatware) addiction, frustration and timewasting.
