  Anyone out there?

  my name is clark.

  i have been disfellowshiped since december 31, 1991. i attended the redwood city north congregation and was disfellowshipped along with an elder on the same night...you do the "mathwork.".

  i am new to this sight (about 1/2 hour) and am not familiar with the format of the do's and don'ts ... or even if i should be here.... however, i have a question for anyone...(and i'm ready for the answers whether it be from over enthusiastic jw's or people who understand...or from anyone in between).. i was disfellowshipped because i openly admitted before 3 elders that i am gay and lived this life as a gay man despite being previously a regular pioneer and a ministerial servant.

  Hi Clark,

  First welcome to this discussion forum. It's an interesting place with many viewpoints. I'm not gay, but hate the term "straight," as if that's the right way to be. It's tiring hearing folks rail about sex but think nothing about watching countless killings on TV, etc.

  I'm certain some on this group are gay. Perhaps they can share their experiences and how they are dealing with their JW history and families. Have you been to, http://www.gayxjw.org/ ? If not, take a look--you are not alone.

  NEW RELIGION! NEED INPUT!

  this is sort of a take-off of the "what should the wt do" thread.. i need to get together a board of directors and elect a president and officers.

  we need to figure out a doctrine, a manifesto, and a set of disciplinary rules.

  we need to figure out a way to fund our new movement.

  I think it's important to have proper team names playing ball during our religious services. The names should truely represent opposing forces of good vs. evil, in that order. For example, The Mother Theresas vs. The Watchtower; or how about The St. Simons vs. The FredHalls. What say you?

  i'm not the least bit afraid of being left alone, for jehovah is the one who eventually 'satisfies the desire of every living thing', and if i don't live that belief, i don't live for the kingdom.. the two things i am most afraid of is not qualifying to get there (new system) to see that promise come true, or losing sight of that promise by impatiently putting trust in my own ability to find the right guy now.. .

  It's hard believing I had the same TowerThink at one time. Seeing quotes like this is like looking at old photo albums, but this album doesn't bring joy. Old pictures can return various memories, but old Tower quotes bring disbelief and anger because we can see right through them. We see the control, we see the waste, we see the pain that awaits each victim.

  i just found a site where david yoder describes the amish culture in great detail.

  it is fascinating to get an inside view of their world.

  . . . Amish boys on roller blades racing a horse & buggy while the buggy's lone passenger yacked away on his cell phone.

  That is priceless! I was in Homes County, Ohio last summer, which has a large Amish community. I remember seeing a couple of Amish boys hanging around a public phone booth, looking very sheepish because I saw them. I made a comment to my spouse about the paradox they must feel of living in the 19th Century with the 21st Century all around them. It looks like the kids you saw were dealing with that problem very well. That was a great story!

  I'm still reading the on-line book. I can't get over the Amish bed dating practice when kids turn 16. I'm sure it's a system to keep young folks in the community, and insure they didn't date outsiders. Why spend money on a movie and meal when you can slide into bed with someone for the night? It's a setup that encourages sexual freedom, but only in their community. It's also a setup that could encourage sexual abuse.

  Thank you for sharing, and I fear you are right. This must be a sign we're living in the last days. By all means keep a watchful eye on these vipers and let us know when Armageddon arrives, too. We missed the first one in 1914 (or was that the second one), and missed all the follow ups. With your watchful eye I'll finally get to see the latest replica of Armageddon. I really hate reading about Armageddon the next day when I could have seen the invisible one! [8>]

  The past year or two have been interesting times for the Watchtower in the national news:

  Some guy studied with JWs and kills his family before walking into a day-trading firm killing several others before taking his life.

  A JW Olympic star runs around the field with the American flag draped over her.

  The Tower is caught in the act of hiding child molesting cases from the authorities.

  Now a JW is having a lesbian fling with sexbomb Anna Nicole Smith!

  The Tower doesn't need any help from ex-JW Web sites making them look bad--they're doing a great job without us.

  Nice try Jan, but we all know Norm hasn't really left the Tower yet, and sometimes he expresses true feelings about "the Truth." That must be a source of national embarrassment to the folks in Norway, but you'll just need to get over it and stop making excuses for Norm. (This is beginning to feel like the old philia group.)
