Yeah, I see a whole bunch of "love" eminating from those quotes.
Thanks for putting this thread together and allowing the Watchtower Society to impale itself on its words. The Watchtower quotes do not need commentary because they demonstrate the venom coming from a sect wishing death to anyone disbelieving their madness. Living under the Society's theocratic government is a paradise built on a foundation of love--yeah, I can see that now!

As Farkel and Osarsif have pointed out, there is a flood of information, scanned older publications, flip flops, etc. on various Web sites to keep an inquiring mind reading for years. This stuff started before the Internet as we know it today, and mushroomed as the Internet exploded.
There are many people to thank for years of research, and their willingness to openly share. We have easy access to the Society's cover ups and craziness thanks to their efforts. One of these days we should do a thread on some of the many people to thank!!!

When a writer or organization edits material in order to change the meaning, and does not indicate those changes in revised material, they are committing intellectual dishonesty. The Watchtower Society does this often in order to cover up false predictions. The Truth book (1968) is another example of the Tower's intellectual dishonesty.

We used The Truth book in the late 60s and early 70s to get as many converts as possible before 1975. The Witnesses used the quote from Acheson to show how the world couldn't last beyond 1975. Editions of this book after 1975 and the CDs removed the "in fifteen years from today" quote the JWs used that pointed to 1975.

I worked in the PR Department at most assemblies. One of the guys had a photo of the Pope and replaced the head with a picture of the Assembly Overseer. A group of us give it to him during a meeting saying, "The Society had new robes for Assembly Overseers." The guy loved it and nearly fell out of his chair with laughter. I noticed he kept the photo in his car throughout the assembly; I'll bet he kept it for years thereafter.
Religions like the Tower go out of their way to discredit the Catholic Church while doing everything thing possible to emulate the accused.

- Jehovah's Witnesses is a closed society. A state within the state. At the same time it is of vital importance that the Witnesses isn’t discredited in the Society, so there is no doubt that they would do everything to suppress a case like this, if they had knowledge about it, says Knud Jespersen.
It's refreshing reading news reports from media not owned or controlled by Corporate America. We don't usually see this type of honesty and candor in this part of the "free world" because subscribers might not buy the next issue if they don't like the messenger! Thanks for the report, Norm.

I really wish I could have helped him to find Christ, but I didn't.
I wish you or someone could have helped your friend, and sorry his depression was so great he took his life. It's an act that can't be undone, and continues to hurt those left behind.
I also wish there were more outreach groups with goals of helping others without the need of turning people back to Jesus, God, or (add your favorite deity). If Jesus would have worked for your friend--great, but one size doesn't fit all. Many ex-JWs are shy of religion, and the very last thing they want is another sermon. It seems most groups reaching out to former high-control religious members are other religious groups. The Watchtower is crap, but Jesus Saves groups can be destructive when they teach people are lost (i.e., roast in hell or will die) if they don't believe in their Savior. Many consider that jumping from the frying pan and into the fire. Some like it hot, but others benefit from a helping hand that doesn't come with religious strings or judgements.

Stories like this abound in the JW community. The Tower’s brotherly love is perverted as demonstrated by your account. Were you around when the Society relaxed the ban on talking (not fellowshipping) to disfellowshipped Witnesses for a short period of time? That ended a little after their 1975 failure when they looked for others to take the blame.
