I'm fairly sure my home address is marked "DO NOT CALL" or whatever they put on the card. I'm still an item of interest when they do their door-to-door thing in the neighborhood. I still go out and ask them if they're making return visits or just working the territory? (They always look confused because most don't know me.) I than say, "I'll take the next door and tell the householder that I'm shunned by Jehovah's Witnesses because I vote, and you can follow up with scriptures as to why you do this." No one has taken me up on the offer as I wave to them when they get back into the car a drive away.
Yeah, I think I'm still "an item of interest" after all of these years. :))

Received a letter from an Elder
by JH ini was gone for a few days and when i came back today, i found a letter in my mailbox.. basically it's a friendly letter asking me to come back to the congregation.
in his letter he says, i tried to contact you often but couldn't.
i know it's not easy trying to be a witness when no one in your family is a witness.

I'm sure this elder, and the Tower just loves you to death, Rat :)

Do you vote?
by MsMcDucket ini was just wondering if anyone here votes in the elections?
considering how badly that some of us did on that test, i wonder if anyone is even concerned with politics?
do you care who your congressman is for your state?

YES I vote -- in fact I was disfellowshipped for the sin of voting (no kidding).
I've voted in every election for nearly 20 years, and I write to elected officials on issues that concern me. Satan is in control of governments when people are not free to vote, but that's only when he's away from his office in Brooklyn. -

what is a born again christina?
by tetrapod.sapien inwell, typically, a born again christina is a guy who is at the end of his tether, and doesn't give a f*ck about much anymore, and is depressed and cuts himself.
and then one day, on just a typical weekday, he meets a girl named christina, and she is so sweet and she gives him his faith again.
his faith in humanity and the universe.

"P.S. My name really is Christina!"
In that case, I'm happy you were born the first time, and pleased you've done it again! :) -

Why is it only a JW can do a good deed?
by Bumble Bee inmy hubby recently went above and beyond the call of duty at work.
the person involved called his supervisor and let him know how appreciative she was, supervisor emailed hubby with the info and thanked him for what he did as well.. my hubby was really happy with the thanks he got for doing this.
while having dinner with his family he showed them a copy of the email and expained what he did.

God's people know they are the only ones worthy of living forever for knowing the secret code “I’m a Jehov** Witness” (if I tell you I’ll have to kill you). Everyone else will be killed because they don’t know the secret code. It’s like the biblical Tree of Knowledge but in reverse (that’s because we’re living in AD not BC). The world is black or white, and if you don’t understand this fact you’ll die because it’s impossible to do good without knowing the secret code. This is the answer to the thread question.

Some think we would be better off if christina wasn't born the FIRST time. :)

Higher Education
by XBEHERE inhello all...just cant stay away from you...hehe .
at our recent co visit, at the elder/ms meeting where co goes over a branch approved outline with us he spent 10 min on the subheading "avoid snares of pursuing higher education"...something like that, my notes are at home but you get the gist.
he essentially spent the time bashing university education citing among other things that a full 30% that go to college dont find employment in the field that they studied in.

“I cant stand lying to her anymore about it so I'd have to come clean.”
XBEHERE – I see that you’ve been on JWD August ’02, that’s a long time to know that “the Truth” is not the truth, and hold it in. I’m sure that you want to start screaming during many of the meetings, but for the sake of family just keep it in. I did that for some time until it just didn’t work anymore.
Whatever you do, I wish you the very best. I hope your spouse understands if you dare to be honest. The Truth doesn’t handle honesty very well. :( -

Thanks for the update on the Tower’s encouraging comments about “Higher Education.” If 30% of college grads find it difficult getting work in their chosen fields, I wonder how many who don’t attend college find work in their chosen fields? Maybe window washers can always work, and toilets need cleaning too.
I don’t know how you can sit through meetings like that XBEHERE, but it’s always interesting getting reports from behind enemy lines. -

XJW Movement
by IP_SEC inin the past i've seen comments from witness apologist talking about the exwitness or apostate movement.
people here are quick to come back with "there is no apostate movement.".
my question is, why isnt there?
-
JAVA
You’re right Jeff, the Tower has not written much about the “evil slave class” of late, maybe because this class has died out and been replaced by the evil apostate class. Both have committed the unforgivable sin of disagreeing with the Watchtower Society. A few of the really evil slaves and apostates have spoken out about some of the Watchtower lies and cover-ups. Jehover doesn’t like XJW Movements . . .
