Thanks for your responses. You never want to go camping with my family anywhere. Something always happens. Your only pair of dress shoes gets accidentally put in the campfire. As one poor sister found out, and she wore a size shoe that noone else had. Or if you want to work unassigned territory and arrive so late you put your tents down on top of poisonous snakes or near a cesspole. And my friends wonder why I despise camping. Yes, this all really happened to my family, plus there's more for another time.

Camping for conventions
by EmptyInside inoutlaw's post about convention food reminded me of my family's experiences camping for the conventions.
fortunately, they did this before i came along.
but, it seems the whole congregation stayed at one campground.

Outlaw's post about convention food reminded me of my family's experiences camping for the conventions. Fortunately, they did this before I came along. But, it seems the whole congregation stayed at one campground. And they seemed to have a lot of fun. But, it was a lot of extra work for the sisters. Just curious if anyone's else's family was too cheap to stay in a hotel and decided to rough it. I can't imagine trying to get dressed up for the convention in a tent.

Gossip
by EmptyInside inright now, i'm pretty disgusted.
a person really close to me is a victim of some pretty malicious gossip from his old hall.
he's very sincere as far as the "truth" goes and i know he never would hurt anyone intentionally.

Right now, I'm pretty disgusted. A person really close to me is a victim of some pretty malicious gossip from his old hall. He's very sincere as far as the "truth" goes And I know he never would hurt anyone intentionally. But, he knows from two different sources another brother from his old hall is really bad mouthing him. I think it stems from the fact he wasn't invited to his wedding. But, you know, you can't invite everyone. But, anyway, I just feel bad and protective of him. I know more people are involved and bringing up a matter that was handled in the past that has nothing to do with them. And my friend said he's trying not to let it get him down. But, at first it made him feel hollow, and get this "empty inside". I never would tell him I come to this site, or what my screen name is, go figure. But, I've now come to the conclusion that it's the one's still in that discourage and nitpick at others. That make them so downhearted that they want to give up and ask, just what is the point really. I think all the gossipers and slanderers still in the "truth" do a much better job of getting people to leave then the "so-called apostates". I think I"m more upset about it then my friend is, and I'm trying not to think about it too much. Because I have confidence in these ones being exposed for the small minded hypocrites they are. Thanks I needed to vent. I'm getting a bit too comfortable here, I think.

What Things Were YOU Counseled For?
by minimus inelders love to counsel people.
it feeds their ego.
over the years, you must've been counseled on different things.. when i was almost of age to become a ms, an elder counseled me for my "lack of seriousness".

Wow, Sylvia, I wear sandals with no stockings to the meetings all the time, and I'm not the only sister. And quite a few wear ankle bracelets from time to time. Noone says anything. I hate when brothers give their own unscriptural opinions, especially on the platform.

As a JW Were You or Someone you Knew Falsely Accused by Elders ?
by flipper inthought i'd put this out there to see if you knew of people in the jehovah's witnesses who were falsely accused or mistreated by the " police " or elders in the congregation.
many times it's been by experiencing injustices that get us to get shaken out of our cult thinking mode and reality kicks in and the scales fall from our eyes that the wt society is just a man made organization whose leaders are no better than us - actually in many cases more unscrupulous and conniving than any of us would have ever been to each other !
i was falsely accused 2 times .

Well, a couple elders smelled cigarette smoke on a young sister insinuating she may be smoking. But, they should have known that her father was not a Witness and he smoked! Meanwhile, she was abused by a close relative of theirs when she was little.

Well, are CO's wives counted as pioneers? Well, my mother was working with the Circuit Overseer's wife in service one morning. And my mother told me how embarrassed she was when this sister asked the householder what kind of birth control she uses. How was she going to work a presentation around that?
When I was younger and working with the pioneers doing return visits they just kept on going and even ate their lunch in the car to keep their time going. I was so sick at the end of the day. I was quite young and needed a bit of fresh air you know, not scarfing down fast food at the smell of exhaust fumes.

There is a song I've been hearing on the radio a lot lately. It's by Matthew West, entitled "The Motions". The gist of it is stop just going through the motions of life, but really live. That's what I get from it anyway, and wanting to get out of this limbo I'm in right now.

What was going on this past week with the JW's?

Well, I am not going to argue the point. But, I still am active and I know my hall did not have any meetings this week, because of the special Assembly day. And I know the neighboring congregations didn't either. Actually, I was surprised when they announced that there would be no meeting Thursday either. Because, I know that in the past we still had a Thursday night meeting when we had the Special Assembley day.

Well, all I know is, my Circuit did have the Special Assembly day this past Saturday. And the Thursday and Sunday meetings were both cancelled.
