those stupid sister talks!
by highdose inam just remembering the awful headache that came with having to put say " how do we know that mary was a virgin?
" subject matter , into a "first call" setting with a " work on gestures" ... all together into a script that would kinda make sense!!
all in 5 mins with at least 2 scriptures used, both of which normaly seemed to have nothing to do with the subject matter!.

I have another talk coming up out of the "Learn from the Great Teacher" book. "How To Make God Happy". I hope I can make it into a conversation two adult women would have. It's hard finding a unique setting.

Well, we had a sister that before she became a Witness, her brain was fried by drugs. She was pretty fanatical, especially when it came to raising her children( I know, I know, most of you think most Witnesses are fanatical)But, anyway, I had the misfortune of going through elementary school with her son. He was pretty weird. Everything to them was demonized, example, looking at the sun with eyes closed to see different colors, kids do that, was demonized. When the school had an all sports day, he wasn't allowed to participate. Finally, something I could do, but she even called my mom to see why I was participating. She somehow had connected it to the ancient Greeks and their Olympics. She wrote a note that inclued me, not her child, to be excused from music class because of some piece of music she deemed "demonized". If someone in the hall ticked her off, which was everyone, she wrote a nasty letter to the elders. One actually included my ten year old self because me and a friend smiled at each other when her precocious son gave his comments. Her poor adopted daughter had to read the whole book of Revelation before she was allowed to go outside and play. I think now that her children are grown and ruined she is scouting the halls looking for deperate brothers so she can mess up their life like she did her with her first and second husbands. Fortunately, I no longer have any contact with her and stay clear of any like her.

Let the children decide.
by angel eyes inok, im putting my neck on the line here but ive always believed that children should be raised to make their own choice, if to serve jah or not.. i wasnt ever forced to believe in anything, any religion etc, although my background is very complicated.. anyway, hubby and i have always thought that how can a child decide if they dont know what other things are, ie birthday partys, halloween etc.
so, our children are allowed to choose if to go places etc.
last year our little boy said he didnt want to go to a halloween party, this year he said he might.

Angel Eyes, I was raised a Witness and still counted as active. But, even the most liberal of JW parents would not allow their children to go to a holiday party, even one at school. I would have to sit in the office or just go home. I really didn't mind going home early though.

Do JW's enjoy being mean to other JW's?
by highdose ini always got the impression that they got a kick out of exluding and looking down their nose at "lesser" jw's.
anyone got any theories?.

This is happening to a member of my family right now. He is friendly and kind to everyone and he doesn't deserve the gossip a couple people started about him. He taking the high road on this. But, I am really upset about this. The brother that started all this gossip is reaching out to be an MS. This really shows how sincere he is. Idiot.

I really do hope you feel better and get plenty of rest. I know a lot of people sick right now. My friend had to take her daughter into the ER Wednesday night because she couldn't breathe. It was confirmed to be the H1N1 virus. I read where it is best to stay home until 24 hours after your fever breaks. I'm kind of nervous because I'm not feeling quite right either. But, again, just take it easy and I hope you feel better real soon.

This is in the Pittsburgh area. I saw it on the news. One station said they were posing as Jehovah's Witnesses or dressed so one would think they were Witnesses. There have also been cases of theives posing as utility workers.

If The Society Could....What Else Would Be Considered "Improper" To Do?
by minimus inrecently there was a thread about the evils of "social networking" for witnesses.
facebook, my space and other similar sites are "worldly" and to be avoided.. before you know, nearly everything will be considered unacceptable for a christian witness of jehovah.
let's have fun and go to extremes...what else will be a no-no?.

Well, I love animals. I have a dog and four cats and they're like my kids since I don't have children. I noticed that some really love animals and some are pretty apathetic one way or another. But, everyone knows how I feel about animals. They know I'm a vegetarian and that I volunteer at an animal shelter. And noone has said anything to me one way or another about it. And I really wouldn't care, since I have to draw the line as to how much my life is going to be controlled by another person's opinion.
