I really appreciate the personal experiences. They were the first I dared to read on apostate websites. I know now that kind of life just wouldn't be for me, especially since single sisters can longer be missionaries. But, anyway, it good to see what really goes on at Bethel and Gilead. The only Bethelite I was romantically interested was soon asked to leave Bethel. He said he felt like a number there. He just couldn't handle all the rules.

More Misc Ramblings About Gilead
by AllTimeJeff inhonestly, i can't remember if i told some of this already, so if i repeat myself, please allow me this.
i am practicing for old age..... it is now 6 years since i got the "long form" application for gilead, with over 120 questions to answer.
5 years since i got my notice that we were selected to attend the 119th class of gilead from april-september 2005.. prior to this, i really wanted to be a co. i won't belabor the point about my ex jw wife wanting to go overseas, but suffice to say, her goal won out over my goal.

Well, I don't know the congregation he goes to, but I know the area. There probably aren't too many congregations, because it's in a rural area.

But, I'm sickened to know that he is allowed back in. I really hope his new congregation know what he was disfellowshipped for and protect their children.

whose hiding in the toilets at the kingdom hall?
by highdose inthis was a favorite way of getting away from the very unloving "loving brothers and sisters".
hide in the toilets, no one can collar you and tell you off.
and even better you won't be in amongst a group of people but still feeling so alone... at least you will actauly be alone!.

Yes, I hide in the bathroom. I seem to be full of anxiety at the meetings. Once I get home, I'm fine.

Well, I'm still in, but yes, I'm being a bit naughty.

don't laugh
by John Doe ini'm toying with the idea of going vegetarian for a month, just to see what it feels like.
my concerns are.
costconveniencenutritionflavormy question is thus, is there a vegetarian diet that will meet these criteria?
-
EmptyInside
Once you get used to it, a vegetarian diet is fairly simple. Just don't do what I started out doing and eat too many refined carbohydrates. Most of the diet should be the green leafy vegetables and fruits, then you add your whole grains, etc. A lot of stir fry is good with lots of vegetables and whole grain rice or rice pilaf. Anyway, there are a lot of options. It also helps to read vegetarian magazines and cookbooks that are simple and teach nutrition also. Good luck. It's worth it.

To those who were born in
by poopsiecakes inwhile you were a witness, did you ever play the what if game?
i would occasionally sit with my friends and wed bandy the ideas around...if we werent born in would we be interested if someone knocked at our door...would we want to go to college...would we be promiscuous.... it was interesting to hear the responses and i think about that now.
one thing i always knew was that if someone knocked at my door a) chances are i wouldnt answer and b) although i would be polite, i would not have any interest whatsoever.

Actually, I thought a lot about that question with friends and family. When I was younger, I was pretty zealous. But, I always thought I would have pursued a career rather than pioneering right out of school. And I wondered what other religion I would have been, if any. There was always someone in the group who would have been a prostitute if it hadn't been for the "truth". I guess they figured it had to be one extreme or another. But, I still wonder if I would have at least took an interest and researched the Witnesses, or just gave the standard, not interested.

news from the jw's in haiti
by highdose inthis is an email going round the jw's, contains several accounts.
here are some new reports that i received today about our brothers in haiti.
for those unfamiliar with the geography of the area, haiti shares the island with the dominican republic which is referred to as "dr" in the report.

I feel for all those effected by the disaster in Haiti. Thanks for sending along the information you received. But, I have to say if you're going to be rescuing people in life and death situations, can't we skip the Watchtower study for once, a quick prayer okay, but, my goodness.

Nine year old baptized
by EmptyInside inthis weekend at the circuit assembly, (i stayed home, thank goodness), i heard a nine year -old girl was baptized.
and she seems a bit mature for her age, but hardly mature enough,in my opinion, to make such a choice on her own.
it seems to be a trend in our circuit right now.

But, it seems each generation is different in the org. My friends and I waited to our mid to late teens. But, now I know of at least four children in the matter of a few months getting baptized who are 12 and under. I don't know how their parents can let them make such a serious decision, when their children are hardly old enough to understand what it all entails.

by AllTimeJeff ini wonder if everyone here who has kept up with me since i left jw's realize why i have been coming on here.
it certainly has been cool to know that some of my experiences and opinions have helped some.
i hope they know that i have been equally helped by others.. i come here primarily for me.

Well, I always enjoy your balanced and well- thought out posts. And as I am on the beginning of my journey, and not really sure where it will take me,I appreciate learning from those who went through it before me. So again thank you for your input on this board.
