Interesting. It's so very frustrating that I'm the only one in my family who sees this "new light" for what it is, buying themselves more time, while giving them a sense of urgency. If that makes any sense, it doesn't.

Well, can you visit each other often. How far is the distance?
This will probably sound silly to most, but, how bout a movie night. Where you both watch the same movie at the same time and call each other afterwards to talk about it.
e-mail lots, send gifts, letters.
But, decide what you really want out of this relationship. And, it's true you can only keep the distance so long, before you decide if it's worth it for one of you to move.
it's just my personality to go the fade route, but i can't handle it anymore.

I thank you all for your experiences and good advice. I'm going to speed up this fade. I really need to get on with my life. Too much of my life was wasted living a lie. I can see it now. It's amazing how when one long held belief goes out the window, the rest of it follows. I still don't know how I'm going to go about it. Moving, right now, just isn't feasible. I hardly go to meetings and haven't been out in service for a couple of months now. So, I'm closer to being on the road to freedom and it's scary,but exhilarating.

You could marry a hottie and she can gain a lot of weight and then where will you be if it was only her body you liked? And everyone changes as they age, you can only hold off the aging process so long.
No, I prefer eye contact and see if there is any chemistry. Then, I just like talking to them and see if our personalities click. It's great when you fall in love with someone you can be friends with too.
