And I think that commentator could care less about Michael Vick's status. He just wants to be opposite of whatever position the President takes.

That is an over the top comment about Vick needing to be executed. But, I can't get the image of him electrocuting dogs in a swimming pool out of my head either. I'll never be a fan. But, he doesn't need me.
I just wonder if Vick wasn't caught,if he still would be fighting dogs. But, again, it's not a capital punishment offense.

A Big Thanks to John Williams at Bethel
by mentallyfree31 inabout five years ago, john williams came to philadelphia, ms as a visiting bethel speaker for our special assembly day.
i was well acquainted with him, as he had been to my kh before as a special weekend speaker, and also to a neighboring congregation.
in his afernoon talk, he goes off about social network websites and he made this statement: "brothers, make no mistake about it, myspace is no place for christians".

If it's not something about entertainment,it's dress or grooming. Yesterday,I was thinking just a few years back,if a brother wore his baseball cap backwards he considered rebellious and worldly. I'm amazed at myself that warning alarms didn't sound off earlier.

This is Why I Don't Like Having Pets
by XJW4EVR inwe moved a couple of days ago to a totally new area.
the cat we had seemed to be getting used to the new place, though she was hiding alot.
she would burrow herself under the sofa cushions or under our blankets.

I'm sorry about your cat. The fact she has tags increases the odds she will find her way back to you.
And I like the putting up posters idea, plus it wouldn't hurt to call the animal shelters and even placing an ad in the local newspaper would be a good idea.
A friend of mine's cat took off soon after they moved, but she still put some food out for it. And it got hungry enough and came home.
How far away are you from the old place? I've heard of animals showing up at the former residence. Good luck, hope she comes home soon.

Christmas visit from the elders
by MrFreeze inyes the elders made another stop to continue to try to get me back to the meetings.
my main argument with them has been the incorrect dates.
607, 1914. they said i need to stop focusing on dates.

Well, you certainly are brave by sharing your views with them. I just don't want to talk to any of them.

A lot of Witnesses in my area hang out at the nearest ski resort. I never went skiing, but would go to hang out with friends and see who I could see.
It wasn't much longer when the elders got a bug up their butt about it,saying we shouldn't go skiing on Christmas. The reason was there were a lot of Witnesses meeting up and it was considered having a large gathering.
How can they control where you go on Christmas. What if I went to the movies and too many Witnesses showed up,would that be considered having an unsupervised large gathering.
Well, I'm happy to say,the next generation of young people,or should I say "overlapping generation" of young people still show up to go skiing.
But,it seems when I was younger, they went out of their way to kill our fun and destroy any chance of me meeting a normal single brother. lol.

Another Bad Witness - Elder School on Christmas Day?
by LostGeneration inhad a brief conversation with by jw father a few days ago, unfortunately still an uber witness and as a cboe he has nothing else in his life.. he brought out that he was getting ready for the elders school.
not sure if he was bragging or wanted sympathy for having to go.
lol.. i didn't press him on the details, though i wanted to ask if they would be covering all 7 chapters in the new manual on how to df people.

Our Circuit had the Elder School at a local Kingdom Hall. I never heard of them having to rent a conference room.

here's a rare one you'll not find elsewhere, send it to your friends!.
new bethel entrants introduction to the governing body circa 1985. two new bethel boys at watchtower headquarters somehow managed to videotape this introduction to the brooklyn bethel headquarters of the governing body off of the bethel tv screen.

Thanks for posting that, but I must confess I didn't even make it as long as Mr. Flipper. I found it quite boring. If I was a new Bethelite,I'd get kicked out right away for falling asleep at the video intro.

DEMONS
by Band on the Run ingrowing up in the fifties and sixties, stories of demonic possession were prevalant in the watchtower and awake.
i was terrified.
we were told they would bother you if you were faithful, but also if you fell away.

I can relate about being fearful about demons. I grew up in the early 80's and it seems demon stories were big then too, smurfs, anyone.
Anyway,I was really afraid,so afraid in fact, when going upstairs to my bedroom, I would sing "We're Jehovah's Witnesses" real loud. I would emphasize "Jehovah" so any lurking demons would surely disappear.
It is something that is hard to get out of your head. I can't believe some of the stories I still hear that the Witnesses believe.
It is quite liberating to be free of all that nonsense.
But, it does anger me that adults let impressionable young children hear such things.
