Lets look at this a bit objectively. All religions claim to have God's blessing. If God came would he really pick one over the others? All religions fall horribly short and thus can't speak for mankind. Only mankind can speak for themselves. Consider the precendent - Christ came and never said any of the religions of his time had God's blessing, if he comes again what would he really say? 1st century is not that much different to ours. I figure he would do exactly the same again. No man made human religion has the right to place themselves between you and your Creator. Enjoy your life to the fullest and do't think for one minute that any religion has God's backing - check out the track record.

i realise that the wts hasn't got the best of track record, and sure they have made mistakes.
but if i was to go to another church wouldn't they still have the same issues.

Likely they are being bouyed for a truckload of so called "persecution" - full length documentary feature on JW's, exposure of sexual abuse, condoning/tolerating pedofilia in the congregation, etc. All of this wrapped and packaged as satan's all out attack and a prelude to the great tribulation.

Is anyone here hooked on Downton Abbey?
by exwhyzee inmy wife got me started watching this show last year.
we've downloaded the previous seasons on netflix and have found it to be really well done.
the story line, scenery,costumes,old cars and compelling characters have us hooked.

Yes, yes, yes...and what an evening of entertainment - first Good Wife then Downton - sure gets your week off to a good start.
The writing is incredible - the acting top notch, there is not one character that is dead weight - kudos to Hugh Bonneville (Lord G) and Rob James-Collier (Thomas) who have worked hard with their characters to give them life and believability.

I was an elder. I never supported the boot licking/green handshakes (I came from the RC Church). I avoided and hated most JC's (enjoyed getting rid of a pedo though - got in trouble for calling the police first), overturned some DF's by supporting the appelant as chair of the appeal committee. My last talk was a meeting part on shepherding (which I really enjoyed)and love of people - it was the talk that I wanted it to be and then I resigned at a "short" elders meeting that followed that night. Two months later I was no longer at any meetings.
