stick to your guns....don't let them overwhelm you - they really have no authority over anyone in the grand scheme of things.

by Captain Obvious inthey just left.
we had a nice "encouraging" chat about my inactivity.
they went through the usual guilt routine, that didnt seem to work so they turned to fear.

My apologies to everyone on this board (please read).
by Joliette inabout a month ago, i wrote a post about a sister that keeps coming to my apartment giving me watchtowers.
i called her an older sister.
she is in her late 50's.

oh good grief - to someone young 50 can seem old........get a grip people.....no need to feel offended and joliette - you are a sweetheart to put up apologies to the thin-skinned ones.........and old can be wonderful, by the way! just cause you lose your beauty, vigor, health, eyesight, hearing and memory doesn't mean it's all a downward trip. your insight into stupidity rises exponentially....makes up for a lot.
hugs to all the oldies and wanna-be oldies!!!

Would you read your child's diary?
by DATA-DOG inthis is obviously a question for parents.
i have made my decision, but i am interested in your views and feelings.
if you are a young person, i would be interested in your thoughts and feelings too.

just a funny
by Roberta804 innow that my mother has been laid to rest and i have no worries about the jw in the slightist, here is one funny..... in 2006 i obtained conservatorship over mom because she wanted to give all her money to the printing company.
she had made a pledge of sorts to the "building fund" for $5000.
well she found some of her old checks that were not attached to any account as i had opened a conservator account.

Not sure what to do next
by magotan ini'm 19, and i'm still currently a jw.
i guess i'm a born-in, or whatever you guys call it.
i've had some serious issues with the faith at the moment, and sexuality is a huge part.

magotan - i just read your post and feel so sad for you. first, please do not buy into the low self-esteem that they dole out to you. you are a valuable person and you must be true to yourself. given your situation, i would think you seriously need to make a definitive move toward being your whole self. they will never accept you - not unless they come to a major shift of stance regarding sexuality.
one thing that had a profound effect on me in my fade was a realization that i was being a hypocrite by staying even on the fringes. my heart and soul was not with the religion...my brain was long lost to the rhetoric. i had to be honest and getting away from it all was the biggest relief. you need to allow yourself that freedom.
i truly wish you courage and determination!

wow - i should be a wiccan jewish atheist!!! awesome chart EntirelyPoss - and duck egg?!?!?! you have ducks and a pond?
personally, i am not a fan of pigmeat in the least - i abhor and detest ham...pork is boring and tasteless - but i do like extremely crisp bacon every now and then - i trim as much fat off as humanly possible, they almost char it.............it has to be totally crunchy. hhmmm.....i have some in the fridge - just got an idea.......................for brunch.............:)

my elderly JW dad--continued
by bigmac insome readers may recall a thread about my old dad coming to live with me.. after a short time he had to be hospitalised--and now he is in a care home.
ive taken over all his financial affairs--including selling his house.. ive been clearing out the house--and--needless to say--came across tons of wt books--years of old magazines--1000's of them--plus bound volumes going back to the year dot.
i asked him what he wanted me to do with them--and he said dispose of them!.

We're both out 2 years now- crossroads
by LittleMac inthis is a personal post, so be warned!
this is what leads me to post today.
during our first year out together, we had so much to share and to have in common, the enemy of the organization now, birthday parties galore, going out and making friends with people.

i think jgnat says it very well. my best to you and your family - i do think that sometimes because we have been so over-conditioned to think negatively that we tend to over-think that which is obviously positive......take your time - it's a journey, and you are very fortunate to have seen the light at a relatively young point in life. some of us have 50 years of warped patterns to disentangle from....:)
