Omg....I never heard about any food restrictions other than products containing blood. If shellfish has got to go...then lead away the blubbery pig as well. That cloven hoof thing.

Do JWs eat shrimp, crab, lobster, clams, and mussels?
by sacolton ini'll play devil's advocate.... true, the mosaic law code prohibited the eating of blood.
but jesus fulfilled the law covenant thus wiping out all the laws previously set.
but then later, (through god's spirit, of course wink wink) the abstaining of blood was again brought to followers of christ.

Omg...years and years....I hung on out of guilt I think....I know we quit going to the ts&sm in early 90's....did Sundays and the bk study till about 2002 but not with regularity....I quit fs in late 90's....kept up appearances basically...plus we were very close with another couple, so much of our involvement was socially driven. Was down to maybe a Sunday meeting here or there...then memorial and I was loath to go and fighting myself all day....hubby finally said...are you sure you really want to go to the shindig....I said no.....we never went into a hall again except for the funeral of the man of the couple with whom we were close. His widow remarried out of the org and has been ostracized due to that...she is uninvolved...we are still friends. But...my fade took a long time. I had such cognitive dissonance and didn't realize what it was. Plus I was never accepted really because I preferred to work full-time and live a decent lifestyle. I had tried the Pioneer poverty thing in my youth and hated it.

Hope kittius kattius comes home safe and sound. My cat and prior ones are/were indoor ones....we abut conservation land that is home to coyote, bobcat....Fisher cat....so pets aren't particularly safe around here.
As for the post convention blues.....sorry it's difficult. Why not plan a special treat....take her somewhere she likes...do something fun?

Babylon The Great / World Empire of False Religion, do JW`s even preach that anymore ?
by smiddy3 inwhen was that first preached , with the book babylon the great has fallen gods kingdom rules ,the 1970`s ?
where they claimed that false religion had a fall in 1919 and that it was continuing to that day .
however today we see not babylon the great that is falling ,but the jehovah`s witnesses religion that are on the decline ,selling off branches , kingdom halls in one place after another throughout the earth .. and only a couple of years ago they were predicting they would be needing thousands of kingdom halls to be built for the expected influx of new worshippers ?

You May Now Embrace the Bride!
by jp1692 injust yesterday, a pimi jw that i've known for years told me that at the end of a wedding they recently attended in pennsylvania, usa, the "brother" that officiated the ceremony concluded by saying to the bride and groom, "you may now embrace the bride.
no kissing.
just a hug.

This is ridiculous. But then given the source not surprising. Next perhaps a you and the bride may now shake hands.
The thing about giving sensitive sexual topic parts to young or new converts though is appalling. What are they thinking? In the first place it is not in good taste or appropriate to have talks on those subjects with prepubescents in the audience.... That cult is sick. Maybe they'll adopt some Islamic type rules about things next. Can't believe I was part of that mess.....so glad and happy to be long gone.

JW earworms
by neat blue dog indo you ever find yourself starting to hum a jw tune subconsciously?
several times while driving alone i started singing one of them, and then i get to an offensive lyric which jolts me 'awake', and i say something to myself like 'no!
if anybody heard they'd think i was a few bricks shy of a load 😆.

We fell once for a hose one...the kind that scrunched up when the water is out...the thing came and was not the size they claimed and the price charged was significantly higher than advertised. It was a total hassle...the 800 number was not real...and the return address bogus. I did end up finding a place to return it along with my letter of scathing indignation. Did find a similar type hose for about half the price from another vendor...it only lasted one season though. So ..... No matter how fabulous the hype I will never fall for those ads again.

Jehovah's Witnesses Came to My Neighborhood
by Juan Viejo2 infor nearly two years i have not seen any jehovah's witnesses going door to door in my neighborhood.
that was not the case when my wife and i first moved here (north central oregon).
in fact, our neighborhood was visited at least once every 4 to 5 months - even in the coldest winter months.

How can they even stand it....to sit around in a car mindlessly....slowly driving in circles....hanging out on doorsteps for minutes on end.....ugh. I quit fs very early on in my prolonged fade.....and prior to that I was criticized because there were drug crime infested zones I categorically refused to go in. I wasn't exercising faith in the angels protection....and I was denying the life giving message to the down trodden. Evil me.

Welcome. Take the opportunity to step away from the religion and simply live your life free from the judgements of people that are no better than you and who really have no authority over you except that which you choose to accept. Work, play...make new friends...live free. Life unfettered by religion is a beautiful thing....and spirituality exists beyond the walls of kingdom halls.
