Methuselah old...
Old depends on your health and state of mind I guess...
having a conversation with a pimi elder and i asked him how he deals with the fact that he never expected to get old.
i get the feeling that some dubs still have the original generation explanation hard-wired, even though they claim to accept the new version.
so my question is, how old do you have to be to be considered old?

we are all very familiar with the fact that jws do not celebrate xmas.
we probably used the same speech as we had been told from the platform that since xmas had its roots in paganism everything associated with it was a big no-no.
xmas trees, definitely a no-no!
I was obsessed with hating Christmas as a dub....once out see it as a nice time...pretty stuff, glorious decadent retail....fun foods.....love the lights and sparkly stuff. Never had a tree in my life though....I think about it but nobody would see or enjoy it but me so seems a waste of time and $$$. I do have lights strung up and get other coniferous decoratives.....
at an assembly in texas is it me or are there not too many young folk about 😉.
.
That is an assembly hall? Doesn't look very big...but perhaps the photo captures only a small section. But....I certainly hope there are few if any 20 somethings, generation xers, millenials, etc there. They're far better off elsewhere living a real life.
i must say, i have had my battery mower, trimmer, blower for about a year now and could not be happier (ryobi 40 volt stuff).
the same battery works in everything.
just plug and play.. yes, they are more expensive to purchase, probably 30% to 50% more than gas.
My ryobi hedge trimmer and tree limb cutter...favorite toys! I love trimming and chopping and yanking out invasive shrubs and overgrown stuff.
i saw on another forum a post somebody made about the melbourne assembly.
it seems the religion is still knocking full time jobs/careers and saving for retirement.. you would think at this point in time - after thousands of bethelites were sent home; many thousands of rank & file jws are at or near retirement age with no preparation - that the religion would change its tune, but no.
they are still stubbornly sticking to their guns on this issue.. i’m sorry for any young jws who listen to this.. i’m just glad i never followed their advice and certainly would not want to be in any congregation surrounded by these desperate people!.
Gas is less than $2.50 currently in this neck of the woods....in one of the most expensive states of the union. We get to pay hiked prices in other ways however... WTWizard makes some very good points.....
i know some would not think about retirement.
i had one brother who would pioneer as he could afford and when he paid off his home he was about to collect social security.
he made enough that his plan was to work two to three days a week and pioneer the rest of the week.
Saving for retirement meant not trusting in Jehovah. Kingdom interest first and everything else will magically fall into your lap. Except thats not the way it works out in reality. My father died without life insurance or savings
...he was a WWI vet so that covered funeral costs...mother left virtually destitute....only his soc sec money and a very very meagher pension. Then there was one pioneering girl I remember figuring the best way was to earn just under the cap of gross income where you have to pay income taxes...this avoiding support to Uncle Sam.
i really think time of birth influence behaviour..
Never knew Uranus was the site of rebellion......interesting stuff here. Perhaps someone could research the time and dates of the papal group guys births....from there we could decipher the signs most doomed to deficiency...and follow with process of elimination schematic....
we need to save the planet so we have to stop using plastic bags!
in massachusetts, the new law will be going into effect soon.
if you go food shopping, you only cat get paper bags.. what is your opinion of the state banning plastic bags?
I like wtwizard's response....there is way too much cheap useless junk in this world. Leather shoes last, are more comfortable and look better than cheapo plastic ones for sure.
Regarding the Massachusetts initiative, I have been using my reusable shopping bags for years. What I wonder is if this ban includes the rolls of plastic bags you put your produce into.....if so shopping for fresh fruit and produce not already packaged is going to present a problem....or are they going to provide small paper bags? I am 100% for doing everything in our power to live naturally and lessen our carbon footprint....but I am not fanatical about it. Reasonable care...and a very big problem imho is the excessive wastefulness that has enveloped our culture...fomented by greedy corporations perpetually finagling to find ways to cheapen goods and hike prices....things don't last so we are on a hamster wheel of buying and trashing. That waste is not conducive to a healthy environment.
so after the unqualified success of my last review ( green book ) l thought that l would try again .
l went to see ford versus ferrari / le mans 66 according to where you live .
now l am no petrol head and talk of motor racing usually makes my eyes glaze over but this film is about much more than laps on a circuit .
Native New Englander USA here......what is a Brummie?
i literally had dozens of suits.
i still have more dress clothes than anyone i know.
i did give some suits and clothing away and to be honest, i still like wearing a nice suit.. brothers and sisters, are all your “ meeting clothes” still in your closet?
Punk....belly the size of a small planet....hahaha!!!😝
I never distinguished much between meeting and work clothes so mostly no issue. But...oddly enough....I have still hanging in my closet the dress I donned when I attended my last meeting....and left after the talk because I had no WT and they had a bunch of extras and when passing them out avoided me. I don't know why I keep it...I never wore it again and likely never will...some sort of weird reminder of freedom from the mind twisting religion.
