The thrill of the roaring stadium crowd....that feeling of being special. God's chosen group. Waiting for the next snippet of new light....new books.... Feeling so blessed in that huge crowd of believers with the miserable old world outside. And you'd go home and be on a high for days...then gradually it would wear off and back to the grind. The whole scenario obviously enhanced the United Brotherhood feeling.... I have no.idea what it's like nowadays .... But from what I gather here it's lame beyond belief.

Thunderous Applause Around The Stadium
by Number 6 ingrowing up in the 70's and 80's in the jw religion who remembers the massive stadium gigs the watchtower used to hold?.
we used to denounce false religion in the starkest of terms.
we were right and by god we were letting anyone who listened know it.

I do like halfbanana's comment about narcissists in rule caring for nothing but their personal standing. We certainly have been getting a bellyful of that scenario in the USA. A lot of the societal issues here stem from that leadership and the dissidence it foments. Where an utter lack of dignity and respect for ones fellow man is flouted by those in power, it has a domino effect and you see people who might have in the past kept their hatred at bay now feeling empowered to display all sorts of bad behaviors.

Looking for suggestions, I'm being called on by a JW
by Tameria2001 injust before the pandemic affected my area, a couple of jws came to my door.
this was the first time i didn't tell them to hit the road but instead had a pleasant conversation with them.
i never revealed that i am a former jw, nor do i ever want the jws in my area to know that i was ever one.

I had a somewhat paranormal experience 2 days ago, but I think science is just light years behind on this.....
by Bad_Wolf infor the record i'm agnostic, never seen any direct evidence of spirits, afterlife, etc.
i've been visiting my mother during this corona ordeal.
a year ago i had a dream i was much older and talking to somebody about how my mom died this year but it was avoidable.

I wouldn't call this sort of "sixth sense" paranormal.....we pick up on things sub-consciously. In my life I have learned to go with my gut feeling...that inexplicable sense or drive to do something....

Politics Aside...
by wisdomfrombelow inthere seem to many seemingly political topics started in this section.
it's usually something controversial and not related to this subject area.
it would be nice to have this area reserved for it's appropriate subject.

If a thread doesn't interest you or maybe even annoys you simply move on....sometimes someone poses a controversial idea. You may have a strong opinion...if you want to engage in the dialogue go for it...If not, move on.

Voting and JWs
by Davros inwith the upcoming elections, the campaigns and political rhetoric are ramping up.
(ramping up is an understatement lol) .
i remember a few years ago, gb member brother herd mentioned during one of his talks that several witnesses were either reproved or disfellowshipped for voting for a certain presidential candidate who won...twice.

Back in the day voting in any election from municipal preferences up to national level was considered a violation of neutrality and disfellowshippable offense.
As for the congregation resolutions put to vote, it was mainly a formality...if the option was brought up it was already a done deal. The majority hand raise was a farce.
