Bethelite reverence

have any of you had the experience of a bethelite brother visiting your kh?.

here's how it always seemed to go in my experience:.

there is a general kh-wide excitement in the air that a real, live bethelite rockstar is at the hall; overheard are numerous convo's featuring words like "o, he's a bethelite".. visiting brother bethelite gives the closing prayer and is immediately mobbed by adoring fans.. all the single sisters are on high alert, you can smell the estrogen in the air.

I always called Bethelites "JW Athletes"...cause to me, they were treated EXACTLY the same! Sisters would gun for their attention (groupies)...they were included in all gatherings/plans (VIP clubs/parties)...people always want to be in their company and brag about it!

LOL! There was this one bethelite I recall that was N-O-T-H-I-N-G to blink about, but MAN did the ladies love him! Not only was he short (about 5'6") but he also walked around with a backpack on IN the cong (and out). Oh, and forget the fact that he makes it loud and clear that he is NOT looking to get married and dude was 42yr old (lifer at Bethel). He gave the 'special talk' at our cong and I swear, the sisters that showed UP sweatin this man like he was Jesus on a stick. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! He was a dork, and anyone that wanted his attention that badly had to be pretty pathetic since he didn't have a pot to piss in. Talk about a FULL Khall that day. You would've thought Jay-Z was there putting on a concert. Never understood what the big deal was with these guys...

"Do not become unevenly yoked"--weird comment at meeting

i heard a really bizarre comment at one of the recent meetings.

someone, in quoting this scripture, of course went with the usual doctrine of not marrying/dating someone who is not a jw.

but one woman took it even further, by saying that this applied even to people inside the congregation who 'weren't spiritual enough' or didn't have some magnificent spiritual goals in life.

Just keep reminding yourself that it's all 'superficial'! They talk....yeah, we all know it. They gossip...it's part of being a JW. They make up crap and call it 'truth'...it is what it is. If you are handling your business at HOME - then you're not giving your wife any reason to question/doubt you. Ok? Keep your head up.

reading another post on here about 'association' and how home jws brag about their accomplishments and how spiritually great they are, yet their lives are bull-ish and the 'fruit' they produce is fake as hell:.

a couple in my cong where the husband was gunning for 'elder' over the years and the wife regular pioneered.

he doesn't work claiming he is disabled (yet he can play basketball with the brothers every week) and has no pride - he will ask for money outright for whatever necessity they have.

Their life has nothing to do with their spirituality

THAT is exactly what my mother used to burn in my head. That no matter HOW anyone acted in the cong, it wasn't their literal example we were to emmulate but their SPIRITUAL example!! Again....why? Their spiritual example was obviously a facade because if they truly were 'spiritually strong' they wouldn't BE acting the ass outside the Khall nor would they people a reason to doubt them and what they teach from the platform. So I can spit, cuss, fight, smoke, beat people up, and steal - but if my spiritual persona is CLEAR to all - then I'm good/ok?

My mother used to always tell me that "As long as a man has good spiritual qualities and goals - then he will make a good marriage mate since he loves Jehovah more then you". Ok now that makes me think...what the hell??? If a man can read the Bible from the platform, hold a freakin mic, pray in front of a crowd, and comment during a Watchtower - WHY does that make him 'qualified' to be a good husband? Using my ex as an example: he had all those 'privileges' in the Khall, but what everyone in there DIDN'T know was that this 31yr old lived at home in his parents attic, couldn't hold a job (he 4 in the 2yrs we were together), had a police record and was on probation, and was ultimately abusive.

So...that crap about a brother having 'privileges' and being 'spiritually qualified' because he SAYS he has goals or you saw him hit the play button on the stereo so the Kg Melodies could start...well...that guy is an ACTOR. Marrying his 'representative' that you see at the Khall is NOT who he really is sometimes, and THAT would be unevenly yoked, wouldn't it?

Reading another post on here about 'association' and how home JWs brag about their accomplishments and how spiritually GREAT they are, yet their lives are bull-ish and the 'fruit' they produce is fake as hell:

A couple in my cong where the husband was gunning for 'elder' over the years and the wife regular pioneered. HE doesn't work claiming he is disabled (yet he can play basketball with the brothers every week) and has NO pride - he will ask for money outright for whatever necessity they have. His pioneer wife is the REAL 'piece-o-work'...this woman will sit for hours (before/after mtgs, in service, at gatherings) bragging nonstop about all her studies or all her AMAZING experiences in service. She is one of those pioneers that seems to always have a Watchtower worthy experience where someone so desperate falls out of a tree, wants to find God, and BAM- there she is to assist them. UGH. These 2 always try to diagnose what OTHER families problems are, and how they can fix their family issues.

CRAZIEST part is that this couple has a son and daughter - NEITHER of whom are still 'in' the org! The daughter is DF'd and the son just faded away - he is now married and has a family. Neither offspring has any desire to come back 'in'. So what right does this couple have to brag SO MUCH about their spiritual lives when they couldn't even get their own kids/house to stay IN????? These are the types of JW that just irriate me...

Borg court: 3rd session & verdict

so...the third and final session was pretty straightforward.

they basically asked some more questions about the first woman, before i got back with the woman who became my wife.

then they asked what seemed like nothing more than a customer survey of "how are we doin'?

I'm sorry about how this ALL went down with you - but isn't it amazing how elders in a JC will make it seems as if they are there to HELP you, but the minute they make their decision (reproof/DF) there is this aura of GLOOM in the room (when they call you back in) and damn if they decide to DF you - oh well - now you don't matter!! I recall that 'moment' vividly and will never forget it. How 3 men that really don't know ME, what goes on in my mind, or what I went through - decided on my ENTIRE LIFE (at that point in time) in a matter of 30 mins!!!!! So in that aspect, I feel for you because it's the coldest decision and arrangement on this earth. God sake, even criminals on death row are allowed visitors and fellow association...but JWs who are accused of committing a sin.......well THEY are 'dead' and to be shunned.

Your wife is who she is. You stay strong and FIGHT however hard you need to. Everyone here seems to be VERY supportinve and encouraging...so lean on all of us. Ok? JWs have a mind of their own - you know that already. So just keep your head up and roll....

when i first left jehovah's witnesses (jw's), i was somewhat amused at the sheer amount of anti jw websites out there.

while websites like freeminds.org and jwfacts.com are great, (non hysterical sites that stress fact and presentation over emotional responses), there are at least 5 times as many other sites that act as if you should treat a jw at your door like you would a spreader of the ebola virus.. i don't disagree with the fact that jw's are somewhat dangerous and usually go for the low hanging fruit.

Like any sane human, once mistreated sufficiently, prepare for them to take off and spread the word. Dogma isn't the point. No one in my opinion joins or leaves JW's because of the dogma alone. In fact, most leave because being mistreated makes them take a fresh look at the dogma they really never took the time to study and understand in the first place.

That statement alone is the SOLE reason why I decided NOT to get reinstated and started my 'research' on the org and it's history! I was born-in, so I never ever questioned a damn thing: baptized at 14, pioneered, sat at mtgs shaking my head in agreement to what was said from the platform despite it not making sense in my young reasoning mind...but after dealing 1-on-1 with a JC and seeing and feeling SICK over how I was being treated, I decided it was my personal duty to READ as much as I could about JWs. Glad I finally started looking deeper into things, but sad that it took me THIS long (and such a traumatic experience with the elders) before doing all of this...

this couple in our hall an elder and his wife gave us a anniversary gift.

it is a wall hanging that says "as for me and my household sister life is to short and hubby will worship jehovah forever.".

i felt i should send her a thank you card even though i hate the gift.

Wait a minute...this whole 'pedophile' issue has be baffled! So y'all are telling me that a convicted sex offender in the U.S. has to - register within the county they are living in as a 'sex offender', they have to notify their neighborhood of their offense (in certain states), and Meagan's Law requires all of this - YET - JWs org/cong does NOT make this persons 'offense' public within the cong?????

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do NOT get this. If JWs are to follow the laws of the land, and the law demands these perverts be made public, WHY is their standing protectted in the walls of a KHall?

"It is our Personal Responsibility to Turn In People who are Sinning"

at the last two meetings i have been to, two brothers mentioned in their parts that we have a personal responsibility to turn in someone we know who is involved in wrongdoing.

they both said we need to do this out of love and because we could also lose our own relationship with jehovah if we fail to do so.

it struck how odd this all is.

I can't tell you how this whole 'tattling' mindset forced me to hold onto guilt of the largest kind!!!! Growing up, like many here have said, I was CONVINCED that if someone was doing wrong and I knew about it - but didn't say anything - I was 'guilty' of bloodguilt! That used to EAT away at me for years because if one of my friends was up to no good, I assumed I was responsible for them...

leaving the wt - why?

so for some people, there is the one breaking point that makes people leave.

for me, not so much about doctrine, but about how people treated one another.

i always heard that we show we are the true religion because we have love among ourselves.

I left because I was DF'd...but decided not to go BACK for 2 reasons:

1. Personal - the way I was treated in my JC mtg by supposed 'loving' elders was repulsive...the punishment in no WAY fit my accused 'crime'...and too many people damn near drop their drawrs for a C.O. that is soooo arrogant that he would make Satan weep!

2. Doctrinal - the whole DFing policy is beyond ridiculous and unChristian...the 'change' in many JW policies over the years...and the constant CONTROl - all of which I didn't think was bad until I was out of the fold and able to reason things on my own.
