I used to feel the SAME WAY (believed I could affect the flow of the holy spirit in the congregation) and it freaked me out!!! Honestly thought that if I did anything WRONG that it was ME that was single-handedly bringing the cong down and was preventing Jehovah's spirit from coming through the doors!!! HAHAHAHAHA...little did I know all that MESS that was going on in my cong had nothing to do with me, and that MY situation was actually 'tame' to a lot of the crap some elders kids, pioneers, and MS's were doing!!!!

Were you totally petrified to question the teaching of the dubs?
by MsDucky ini look back now and think what the hell was wrong with me?
it's just so crazy to be so blind.
everytime, i'd think that this or that wasn't quite right, i'd think i was committing blasphemy.. it's sad to know that's why many people are still stuck in that religion..

Many JWs have become masters at Emotional Blackmail. I'm sorry to hear this.
AMEN! All JWs are technically trained to do this...to abuse the 1 core emotion given to us as human beings - LOVE! If the (love bombing doesn't work) 'we miss you at the mtgs', and then the (manipulation doesn't work) 'there's a lot you've missed. maybe you should come to the mtgs regularly again?', THEN they stoop to flat out emotional blackmail "really miss you and wish you would come back to mtgs - Armaggedon is coming and your LIFE depends on it!"
UGH!

What Do Jehovah's Witnesses Stand For?
by minimus ini know what they don't stand for.. they do not celebrate holidays, believe in getting involved with the "world", vote, take blood transfusions......well, that's not really so.. if a christian (jw) wife was told by her "unbelieving" (non-jw) husband to help decorate the home for christmas, she could do it!
if he wanted her to go to a christmas work party, she could attend.. a jw has to be totally separated from this world.
politics is a no-no.

They are the first to stand in line for food..
HELL yeah!! I used to go to the DA in Philly...down in the HOOD area. You should've seen how some of these JWs would act standing in line for the last spicey chicken breast at Popeyes?! -hahahaha. I mean, you would've thought chicken was being BANNED the way they would push and yell at the order takers...pretty sad.

There is even a brochure that is posted on all KH announcement boards that shows what is APPROPRIATE 'dress' for mtgs and Bethel visits and what isn't....yes - it has specific pics showing examples of what they deem 'inappropriate'.
JWs can't celebrate holidays nor birthdays - but they consider 'the Memorial' a holiday they honor every year AND have problems celebrating Anniversaries, which technically is the birthday of your marriage!!

Don't buy anything at the meat market or yard sales or else you could turn out like me?
by dissed ini don't know how this happened and how they met, but a relative, a jw elder and my old po talked about us leaving the wts.
(he said this to my wife).
they reasoned, how could someone, who was a pioneer, bethelite, worked at the rbc, district and circuit level, taught at the pioneer school, helped dozens to baptism, suddenly and inexplicably, leave jehovah's organization?.

My dad said that to me when I was attempting to 'defend' my decision NOT to return to the org! He told me that I needed to read Cof C and ask myself WHY a Bethelite and Member of the Gov Body would LEAVE the org and write a book about it???? I just LAUGHED cause I 'get it' now, i see how a person can be wrapped up in a religion for years and not see the real deal - like I was. Its takes a 'situation' for the blinders to come off...

ADHD a Protection?
by ClassickConcept inim new but am completly thrilled to find a site like this discussing things i've personally contemplated for years.
in my research and through posts here its come to my attention that the meetings (watchtower study in particular) are designed to hypnotize you(reference charcot) thorough, among other means, soothing song.
they say it relaxes the mind a prepares it for the process.

And THAT sums up the whole premise of DFing - EMOTIONAL BLACKMAIL! Either believe everything and do what you're told or lose everything - including 'Gods love'. UGH!

I have it! Diagnosed aprx 5yrs ago. Raised a JW and as anyone with ADD knows, the only way we stay 'focused' is on things we ENJOY or are interested in. Guess that's why the mtgs bored me.

I read CofC this week on holiday...life changing stuff!
by Lozhasleft inhi everyone...thank you for all your well wishes for my scottish hols...it was nice..warm dry weather...lovely scenery...a good rest... what i will remember the most about the holiday is that i read ray franz's book there...in fact i struggled to put it down.
it was so revealing and informative but was also written without bitterness or malice.
it stirred many emotions within me ...too many probably...anger, remorse, indignation, sorrow, heartbreak, frustration, sympathy....you name it.... a big emotional journey for me....thanks to all for the recommend i would hate to have missed it..... loz x.

Joining JW's using the 'bait - n - switch' method
by babygirl30 ini used to work in advertising, and more specifically, with automotive dealers.
a lot of them are notorious (even though it's illegal) for the 'bait-n-switch' sales tactic: they advertise one loaded model car, customer calls in and is interested in that particular advertised model, the dealer claims to have it and so the customer stops in to drive it, and then bam!
dealers suddenly doesn't have the advertised model but offers the customer another low-end model for apprx the same price.. for some reason that reminds me of how people come into the jw religion.

The WTS always bets on the convert wanting to save his/her investment into the WTS.
YO! I like that statement a LOT!!! Makes perfect sense...all that time and energy studying and going to mtgs IS an investment.

Um....sweetheart...I don't know what area YOU come from, but I have never BEEN and never will BE - ugly!
But I did have some associates in the org that were LESS then attractive - by any standards.
