  Hi, very interesting thoughts about COOKING...which is my passion. My yesterday's lessons with 16 adults was great!

  I'm interested in whatever is gastronomy, food from all over the world, and love to prepare international dishes for my 'critic' husband!

  My son and daughters have inherited my love and pleasure for cooking and they also do very well.

  Talking about olive oil I would say that is really difficult to stand for a particular one spanish, tunisian, greek or italian! They all grow on different soil with different influences of wind, sea, location like hills or countryside...so it depends from each one's taste. I have, once participate to a session of extra virgin olive oil taste-test. We had in front of us at least 20 different olive oil of various origin: ALL so different from one another..unbelievable.

  Agree with LouBelle (good cooker toooooo), and with DJK about the creativity in cooking.

  Wantarevolution: LOVEEEE the Puttanesca....wonderful with linguini instead of spaghetti!!! Have you ever tasted Spaghetti with gorgonzola cheese sauce? Or a Walnuts pesto???????

  Hi Compound Complex,

  I feel concerned by your request....I'm a chef.... (between other occupations)...I'm getting ready for the cooking lesson of this evening, I will have to teach a complete italian meal to 16 adult pupils....see you tomorrow on this screen!

  The point that Barbara exalted about the Watchtower, is that this is a « dangerous » religion, because people has died, dies and will die because of their senseless interpretations, while a religion, a faith should save people's lifes!

  JW Woods shows the example of an orthodox Jew while eating pork under extreme circumstances would be forgiven. Didn’t Jesus meant almost the same when he said, in Luke 14:5: And he said to them: “Who of you , if his son or bull falls into a well, will not immediately pull him out on the sabbath day?”

  The respect for the sanctity of the Sabbath, a God’s given law, could be broken if A LIFE was involved, should not be same today in case LIFE OR DEATH are involved?

  Do the Watchtower Management read, meditate, and understands the Bible, or is the spirit they ‘receive’ that hides the right teaching of Jesus’ words?

  so last night i'm chatting with my wife about some things i had read on this site, when she dropped a bomb on me.

  see we have been attempting new non-jw friendships, to make our fade a little more bearable (in her case since she has so many jw friends).

  i have been trying to do this for her and told of a few i've found here, and on facebook.

  what are your consistant compliments

  and i was thinking of the compliments that i have received through my adult life.

  and, there are a couple that have remained consistant through-out.. i have been told:.

  Isn't good for the spirit to receive compliments! Sure

  My daughter said to me, again, when she came visit us on sunday: You are beautiful, mom......how nice, for an over 60......

  I also teach cuisine in a school, and everybody likes a lot my cooking, the negative point is, that people refrain to invite us (not only because we are out of the congo) because they think what they will prepare will not be as good as what I prepare!!!!!!

  Do you ever feel bitter...

  ...that if you had never been a jw you could have been in a totally different, hopefully better, place than where you are now?

  both when it comes to proffession and family etc.... sometimes i feel that i never explored any hobbies coz preaching was my hobby.

  i know it's not too late for babies or new hobbies but still sometimes that makes me sad.. love.

  Yes very often..though I'm a positive mind, EVERY DAY I feel that small drop of bitterness: for not having had a normal life, a normal teen-age life, never going out with friends for dancing or simply a concert for good music or singer, never spent a saturday or sunday morning in our bed, playing with our children (stolen by field service or Watchtower study), never free to read other than Watchtower stuff, enjoy a whole day without some WT activity, etc, .....it has been an invasion of our private life, a stealing of our time......bad boys there in Brooklyn...

  I would say that it can work: are both ex JW? Well they have in common past and lots of things to talk about: Brothers and sisters acts, elders, preaching, reports, field service...and if they had enough of all that as it happened with one of my daughters...well it works in a great way with her ex JW friend!

  i was always trying to be the life & soul of the cong.

  After being so disappointed because of the way my elder-during-years-husband was mistreated from the organization, I said to my JW sister: I will no more help people to study and became a JW!

  She was astonished…but in fact it is what I did!

  I continued to discuss on the Bible with an old, kind and sweet lady who accept with pleasure my calls but had promised to never became a JW, so…I started to preach….the contrary! I began to talk to her about our discoveries on the Watchtower….how happy she was we had decided to leave!!!!

  The Truth Of "Serving" As An Elder

  who the hell are "the elders"?

  being an elder is supposed to be a "privilege".

  elders are supposed to be "shepherds" who care for the flock.

  My husband has been the first elder in the congregation since the creation of the function in 1972. He was really devoute. He kept a serious conversation with me, explaining that if he had to accept this 'privilege' I had to cooperate and accept the fact that he would be busy and ready to help and counsel brothers and sisters at any moment.... I accepted!

  I never complain: 3 kids, housekeeping, caring for children, preaching even 40 hours per month in order to help and be an 'example', a husband traveling for the company (during 5 years) from monday through thursday, coming back in time from the airport straight on the podium to give speechs he had prepared during his travels. Saturday afternoon he was leading the preaching REGULARLY during YEARS, sunday morning leading the Watchtower or giving talks and in the afternoon some elder gathering or some committee...well not much left for the family!

  A life of real dedication to the organization, ready to help even during the night, when called to help friends,...poor family life..... (thanks to a wife who took all family charges on her shoulders...) when he left the charge it was like a defeat, but after a period we started to appreciate the fact to be free to decide of our life and to enjoy, at least our family.

  Life is too short is true, why all this efforts? Why all that deprivation, all those sacrifices? Now after resignation (as elder + Watchtower), where is the appreciation of the 'friends' and of the Watchtower for all his hard work, during years? So sad to realize it has been a waste of time, a waste of a life!!!

  'waiting for the real life'.

  they exploit the biblical text to mean in essence that jw's 'put off' normal human life until the new world.. i never thought of the damage that does until i began to review my life history.

  i have discovered that i am 35 years behind.

  How true what you expressed AK Jeff! Same feelings for my husband and me of being a lot of steps...behind this world!

  Being in the org since the birth for him, from teen-age for me up to 60, sure we had a simple life, fortunately also 3 kids despite '75 and the end always at the door....but also lost lot of things.....
