AGuest,
Thank you for that pompous sermon. I would like to know how you know exactly that YOU are the one who is not in error? Also when did our Lord elect you to judge others as to whether or not THEY have the holy spirit?
Go learn what this means "season your words with salt".
Your sister in Christ, Peace Lilly

I was newly out of the JW's when someone told me about the 200 verses changed in the NT. At first I did not believe this to be true because how can they get away with that? Also I knew the WT was arrogant but thought even they would not blatantly subvert the scriptures. So too see if this were true, I DID go to the WT's publication of the Greek Interlinear Translation and studied it closely along with the NWT and another bible, the NIV.
The WT's own book proved that in the original Greek New Testament, Jesus IS referred to as GOD. Not a GOD. I have since ditched all the WT publications EXCEPT the Greek Interlinear Translation book. I use it to witness to other JWs.
btw: I now study New Testament Greek for my own knowledge. And there is no doubt about it the first century church recognized Jesus as God "in the flesh" and worshipped him accordingly.
For the sake of time, this is all I wish to say on this topic for now. Sorry I came in so late. Interesting thread though. Peace to all, Lilly
P.S. for those still in the org, if you do not have this book (Greek Interlinear Translation), get a copy. It just may change your life.

I am originally from New York State and when my parents were still alive I worked for SBLI - Life Insurance co. Anyway, I wanted to take out two senior life insurance policies on them to pay for their burial if they passed because they had no life insurance. I had to bring both of them into my job to do this. In New York State it is illegal to take out life insurance on any adult unless they are present during the transaction and sign for it.
I don't know what the laws are in other states but perhaps this should be the standard. No one should be able to take life insurance out on someone over the internet.

Phone Territory!
by stillin9 inwell, couple days ago i got stuck with a brother doing phone territory!
man, i hated that!
i kept on wishing no one picks up the phone or it's a disconnected phone number or something.

I was the Queen of phone territory in my congregation. I even got a group of sisters together weekly to do it. Of course it was more social gathering than actually witnessing as absolutely noone is home during the week. Everyone is working or in school. But it was great because I didn't have to drag my kids door to door during the week when they were young and I would get like 2 or 3 "hours" in at a time.
We even had a few good experiences too. I found when I did reach someone, if I promised never to call them again, they let me send them the free offer of the month.
I even gave demonstrations in the KH on how to effectively "witness" by phone. Lilly

"No organisation for me!" A question for ex JW Christians
by Chalam inobviously the wt is a best a man made organisation and publishing company.
at worst it is far darker.. anyhow, i understand why an exjw would be cautious to join another organisation.. however, god does have one and it is called the church.. .
matthew 16:18 (new international version)18and i tell you that you are peter, and on this rock i will build my church, and the gates of hades will not overcome it.. it is not a denomination or even a religion, it is just the collective of all born again believers who have come to jesus and are build on his foundation.. 1 peter 2:4-5 (new international version) 4as you come to him, the living stonerejected by men but chosen by god and precious to him 5you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to god through jesus christ.. ephesians 2:19-22 (new international version) .

Hi, good Q.
I attend an online church at www.ptm.org for communion and to listen to sermons on different topics. I also fellowship with another local church on occasion. I have not officially "joined" any church though. I don't like the way churches set denominational guidelines. Christians should be called just that and not have titles that divide such as Catholic, Baptist, etc. And as a Christian I recognize the "real" church is the body of believers all through out the entire world regardless of church attendence or denominational affiliation. I associate with Christians thru out the U.S. and in Europe and in Africa whom I have met online and write to and speak with on the phone. I am not bound to one group so I can fellowship with believers everywhere. Anyone accepting Christ is a spiritual brother or sister to me.
When I first left the WT I was isolated and fearful of attending another church or organization. But now the Lord has revealed to me that I do not have to be fearful of any church or group. I can and should associate freely with all believers and I've visited many churches in my area.
Of course, I also associate with people who are not Christians too. But am simply answering this Q from the perspective of whether or not I joined another religious organization and why. My new faith in Christ allows me to love all people not just my spiritual brothers or sisters.
Hope this answers your question. Peace to you, Lilly

Switching congregations
by EmptyInside indid any of you start going to another hall if there were problems in your last congregation?
it happens a lot now.
when someone has an unresolved problem, they decide to go to a neighboring congregation..

My family left the hall we were in for 10 years which happens to be practically within walking distance to our still current home. We started attending another hall about a 20 minute drive away. The reason we left is our old congregation was shielding a pedophile and we had two young children. I only found out because another sister went against the elders and told me about it.
About a year after going to another kh, we ended up leaving the witnesses anyway. Peace, Lilly

My husband plans on spending about $800 on his list. So that brings our total together to about $1,400. We are doing CASH only this year.

I thought the detectives did a great job gathering the evidence against Jarka and the prosecutor did an A-1 job too.
These are the things that made me feel he IS guilty and apparently the jury had similiar thoughts;
1. the Mother inlaw immediately blames Jarka. Apparently she knew there was trouble in paradise (no pun intended)
2. the fact that the crime scene was too controlled and cofined to a small area. IF an intruder did this he would have run back down the stairs and out the door he came in. Where the heck was the blood trail then?? Jarka had something ready to put the bloody weapon and clothes in immediately and he simply carried them away and dumped them somewhere.
3. The fact that this guy did not try to hold his dying wife at all after 20 years of marriage. He should of had some blood on him but he didn't because he cleaned it all off himself. And he didn't turn her over to assess the damage because he knew what the damage was and he knew she was already dead.
4. The fact that he searched how to kill someone on the internet and the fact that he took out so much life insurance on a stay at home mother with no income contributing to the family.
There was more but these are the main reasons I feel he is guilty. Look at the lifestyle this guy was trying to keep up with, he wanted the money, his wife was going to leave him anyway according to her mother so he figured he would just take her out , collect the money and start a new life. This guy planned this for a while.
The way he killed that poor women and the savageness of it, I agree with the judge, he is PURE EVIL.
