Shalom Robyn! I was thinking about you last night. Will try to give you a call over the weekend.

here is what the nwt says:.
"4and in answer jesus said to them: look out that nobody misleads you;5for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, i am the christ, and will mislead many.6you are going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that you are not terrified.
for these things must take place, but the end is not yet.. 7for nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another.8all these things are a beginning of pangs of distress.. 9then people will deliver you up to tribulation and will kill you, and you will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name.10then, also, many will be stumbled and will betray one another and will hate one another.11and many false prophets will arise and mislead many;12and because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off.13but he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved.14and this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.
yes, here it is;
Acts 2:17 " 'In the lastdays, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.

Hebrews 1 identifies the "last days" as already began when this text was written;
1 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.
The last days includes the first century, our currernt time period and the time up until the 2nd coming of Christ.
The point of Matthew 24 is to show that during this entire time period of last days, however long they may be, we would continue to live in a world filled with uncertainty including, strifes, wars, earthquakes, false prophets, persecution of the church, etc. but we (the church) need not to be overly concerned with these things so as to loose faith in God. For these things are only temporary and the clock has already started ticking towards the end, at which time God's promise of the "new heaven, and new earth" we are awaiting, will be realized. He who endures, in the faith, until the end is saved. Peace, Lilly

Jeff,
That was cute. I have a rule which is if I haven't spoken to the person in a year or more, I do not send them a card. Otherwise my list could include acquaintances going way back that will probably get my card and ask "Lilly who?"

Wow mouthy, thats a lot of cards! Do you write messages in yours too?
okay, i am in a bit of a dilemma.
since i believe in honesty between marriage mates, i have been telling my wife about this board and my participation on it.
i feel it is only right so that she won't feel like i have anything to hide.
gary,
Sorry to hear about your wife troubles. I am getting in late on this topic but here are my 2 cents.
I left the org before my husband did. He was furious and threatened me with divorce. I stayed calm and reasured my love for him and told him if he decided to remain a witness then I would fully suppport his decision, but that I wanted to have a right to do as I saw fit with my new belief system. I assured him I would not share any "apostate" material with him and would not try to undermine his faith in any way.
The fact that he then saw me as a non threat to his remaining a witness, worked out well in my favor.
Eventually, he saw the BS behind the WT with his own eyes and left the org. Now, as far as your wife, no one can know for sure if she will ever leave the WT but what I would do if I were you is this;
1. let her know you love her no matter what. And that your leaving the WT does not mean you will EVER leave her.
2. Tell her you will continue to respect her decision to remain a JW but would like the same respect given to you in return
3. Agree to not discuss anything with her you learn on this site, or try to undermine her beliefs in anyway
4. tell her you will answer any Q's she asks but will not bring up the subject of religion otherwise.
And then tell her the society says that if an unbelieveing husband wishes to stay with his wife then the wife should be agreeable to this as long as he is not trying to destroy her faith in Jehovah....back this up with WT articles from the cd rom.
I feel bad you are going through this. I do think your wife is overreacting and treating you like a child instead of a grown up by threatening to cancel the internet, but you need to understand that she feels totally afraid and threatened right now. She may well feel that your next step will be out the door entirely. She needs you to remain calm and reasure her. Good luck, let us know how things turn out.

hey, here is a little update on my fade:.
an elder have been calling me for a couple of weeks now... i didnt answer the phone, and after two weeks he stopped calling.
i was releaved... until today... i just recieved a mail from the same elder, telling me that he and another elder wants to visit me - he gave a bs reason about them rearranging the groups in the congregation and wrote they were visiting all the puplishers.
ignore it!
I did a similiar thing when I first left to get the elders to stop coming by. I eventually Da'd myself which is different from your situation but the longer you put it off the better especially if you want to just fade.
I have a friend on this board whose husband answers the door and just says to the elders, "we are not interested in speaking with you right now, and do not want to be harrassed about our decision", "when we are ready, we will contact you". And then he doesn't let them persuade him into any more conversation.
So again, I say just ignore it, pretend you never got it. If you run into them, tell them you don't know what they are talking about. Good luck, Lilly

Oh yeah, and the cartoons are pretty funny too.
I saw this thread going badly right from the beginning. I think the Q was put out there just to start an arguement again piting bible believers against non believers, and that is why I did not give any response.
The best thing I saw so far on this thread was the Quote by Ghandi about liking Christ but not Christians because they are NOT (for the most part) Christlike. I wholeheartedly agree!
Peace to all, Lilly
