this forum has provided me with some healing of wounds that happened a long time ago and had not healed yet.

anyone got any good information as to why dubs dont like beards?

in 18 years, i have yet to understand why.

if its brought up tonight by anyone, what should i say?

I have a solution for you. Don't go to the meeting and you will not have to answer questions about the beard. BTW, I have a beard and that is why the JWs don't want me to go to the KingDumb Hall.

this is my first time so i hope i don't sound too pathetic.. my situation is this: i am not a jw, but i am in love with a girl who was raised a jw.

we've been together for 4+ years and i would like nothing more than to marry her.

she has been what i guess you'd call "inactive" for almost two years, but i don't think her convictions have weakened any.

the question has always been, primarily: is jehovah really god?

secondarily, the question has been: are jehovahs witnesses really jehovahs witnesses?

or, perhaps worded differently: is the watchtower really the voice of christs appointed faithful and discreet slave of prophecy?

Where Do I Go Now?

with all the problems in the 'truth' and all the things that we know are wrong with it there seems to be aspects of their theology (i.e the sequences of the world powers, statue in daniel, the promise of world restoration again found in daniel) that to me still make sense.

although i cannot follow a religion that believes in the destruction of all humanity barring those that respond to their own preaching work i still believe in a creator and cannot accept the teachings of other religions that have no purpose for the earth and believe that mankinds only destiny is in heaven.

my mind keeps telling me that if god was behind a religion it would be so much better than that of the jws.

The happiest people I know are my Great-Aunt and Great-Uncle. They have never belonged to a certain religion, but I see them as spiritual people. When I left, I went to the Central Christian Church. It was nice, but the people are just as fake. I decided I did not need to belong to a certain church to be happy. Now I am the happiest I have ever been.
