i've been away from the boards so long that i had to create a new account but recent events have brought me back - i've missed this place!
anyway, i heard a former witness being interviewed the other day that said the witnesses were now being highly discouraged to read the bible by itself (without wt literature) on their own.
this seems over the top even for the witnesses.

i need proof he never said such a thing, it seems to me its false.

here you can search every question ever asked.
we were all in our 20's the 1990's pioneers who still hoped the 1914 generation was for real.
jenny {names changed} loved peter who was younger then me and very handsome.
he wanted to go to bethel since he was a kid.
acts 15, along with the fds parable, are the basis for the existence of the modern day gb.
it is not difficult for anyone who is beginning to study the bible with jws to see this and be utterly convinced of the matter.
even after learning ttatt i had a hard time departing from the idea that a centralized body of administration may have existed then and may need to exist now.
here are a couple of ways that come to mind:.
-- suppose a married gay couple, or even one of the partners, starts studying the bible with jws and decides he wants to baptized?
would the jws require him to get a divorce?
i'm so tired of seeing this crap everywhere.
The law does NOT say that Churches, religions, or clergy has to perform, accept or condone same sex marriage. Only States. You know chruch is still separate from state, right?

during the wt session, the org admits that the actions of eldubs can cause an eventual shortage of "qualified " brothers, and it has.
they speak of a lack of teaching as the cause.
in reality, it's the legalism and control issues within the org itself that have caused a shortage of men who are willing to reach out.
DS I had the exact same experience. Before I was married I had a seasonal job. in the summer I rarely got more than 4 hours of FS, but in the winter I easily got 20 to 30. This disqualified me. When my job changed and I regularly got 10 hours I was visiting other congregations a lot to meet new people (girls) so I was told I could not be recommended since I didn't "support " my congregation.
so how much do you understand about brainwashing, its application and effects ?
essentially lures people into its grasps and then brainwashes them for exploitation and manipulative purposes by using mental indoctrination techniques.. here's a quick quiz to take to answer some of these questions.
