As a former Catholic alterboy, I had an idyllic childhood so I am even more shocked at perverted wrong-doing in the Church and feel that all guilty of such gross evil must be presecuted to the full extent of the law. The pope has expressed his disgust and hopefully justice to the victims will be done. I am deeply ashamed of elements of my Church

in a us interview elton john says "i think jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems".

what do you in the us think of his comments?.

we in the uk find him to be a sad old queen with a bitter and twisted view on life!.

I love Elton's musicianship. Also, he is free from drugs and booze, reportedly because of the Twelve Step Programme which I recommend to all ex-JWs.

imho, there are times when individuals/famlies/communities/states/nations must take up arms to defend themselves.

There are many non-Witnesses who become conscientious objectors such as the quakers and there were the Seventh Day Adventists who joined up but in non-fighting units. Many Catholics took non-combative roles such as chaplains and medics. An example of this is John Bradburne of Mutemwa Mission,Zimbabwe who was a medic in the British Army in Burma during World War Two. During some fire fights between the British and Japanese, he went around, singing Bach, taking care of the wounded and dying from both sides. He was later murdered by a guerilla in Zimbabwe and many miracles are associated with him during his funeral and beyond the grave.

My personal view on the nature of the soul and the afterlife are almost diametrically opposed to those of the WT. Below is my JW's friend justification for the WT belief that the dead are extinct and conscious of nothing. Please comment on the strength of the explanation he gives:

The dead are conscious of nothing.

He keeps all names in his book of life and knows everything about everyone.

That’s when he will call out their names and they will be resurrected – just like Lazarus was resurrected by Jesus

(Lazarus didn’t go to heaven for the 4 days he was dead and tell everyone about his experiences in heaven). Jesus resurrected him back to life fro the common grace (he was asleep in death)
