Ok... I asked this before: Meow... where are you and what are your thoughts on this? Lots of folks here are taking a lot of time and concern to reply... please speak up! Jbean

I tend to agree that this letter doesn't look like the "real" thing... NOT that I'm doubting any on this site... just from where they actually recieved it. Is there a better link for a true scanned copy? (the logo on this looks a bit "off"... not like the usual UN logo, for one thing). Thanks in advance, Jbean

Meow... please tell us what you think of all these replies. I'm curious to know what "strikes a chord" with you. And it's very true what most have said... sure, it's no problem whatsoever if, after you're baptised, you change your mind and want to leave the organization. No problem whatsoever if leaving behind your JW friends, family & entire support system doesn't bother you a bit. Whatever you decide to do, DO NOT, I repeat: DO NOT abandon your non-JW friends and family. The JW's will tell you this is necessary, to limit your friendships with the "world" because they'll quote "bad associations spoil useful habits." I tell you in all seriousness, it's only my cultivated relationships with people OUTSIDE of the organization that are keeping me sane. Jbean

BibleExaminer's comments are right on the money!!! As for You Know, well... if he's as strong a JW as he claims to be, he really wouldn't even be here on this site. It wouldn't be worth his time (unless he's counting it as field service!): )

I am anxiously awaiting a scan/link to this letter. Then I will show it to my folks, whose response will likely be: "Well... this is disappointing, but it IS Jehovah's organization and we'll just wait for him to straighten it all out." YUKKKKKKK!

Suckered into the memorial after all
by Pierced Angel indang!.
things happened with my mom (dad couldn't get back from his out of town job) and i ended up being guilted into going to the memorial with her after all.
at least she agreed to take the kids home with her afterwards so my friend and i could still go out for a few drinks afterwards (which were much needed after that experience).. i'm da'd so many there smiled when they saw me and it immediately froze on their faces as they tried to look the other way.

I, too, attended last night. I had my proper amount of wine with dinner, to "chill me ever so slightly"! : ) It was the first time I've attended any meeting with my doubts coming along for the ride. I could barely sit through the hour... some things that the speaker was saying made me want to just scream. Anyhow... the closing prayer was tediously long, and basically I thought of many of you all here on the board when the thought "sales pitch" jumped into my head! ("blah, blah, blah... help us to make all 5 important meetings, dear God, blaaaahhhh, and to teach others in field service so we may attain everlasting life... blaaaahhh...") You get the drift. What helped me through it all was the knowledge that some of you here were going through the same thing in all parts of the nation/world, and that gave me an odd sense of comfort! Also... what Pierced Angel said... they REALLY believe they are doing the right thing. Oh well... at least my folks were happy. Have a great Easter for all who celebrate... and for those who don't: have a rockin' weekend! [:D} Jbean

When is Nissan 14?
by Dawn inok - here is an interesting one for ya'll.
just throwing it out there for your thoughts.. the "lords evening meal" is always celebrated on the day that corresponds to nissan 14. my parents are still jw's and (as ya'll know) the memorial service is the "most important meeting of the year" - they literally cry if i don't go.
so i'm thinking - i'll show my mother and father honor by going - i can fake it through one meeting right?!

Thanks, Borgfree... but what IS that? I haven't any idea how to "read" it or what it means!
