VM44: Thanks so much for the text of those two articles!!!
Is there a link or an actual SCAN of these articles that I may have? I think at this point, JW's need to SEE that it came from THEIR OWN magazines, vs. what looks like an "apostate"...ooooohhhhhh : ) has typed in. Yes, I know that they can go look it up in their ancient copies of the WT that they more than likely have saved... but I'm just trying to save some time. If no one can provide this easily, then no problem... I'll use what VM's given here.
Another quick question... does anyone remember anything, anywhere, that was printed in terms of an EXPLANATION of why they did this? I know that many times they just "slip these changes by", KNOWING that the regular Joe in the congregation won't even blink...(maybe 'cos they're not really paying attention!) at these changes. Anyhow... any takers? VM: Thanks again. Jbean

Hi everyone... back in late December, teejay posted a question on why the baptismal change? I printed out the thread. The 2 questions were posted: the initial questions were taken from the May 1, 1973 Watchtower and then the changed questions were posted from the June 1, 1985 Watchtower.
I am wondering if anyone can scan in the copies of these 2 articles or tell me where to go to get them/provide a link. I don't have any CD roms or anything. This is important 'cos I promised someone I would prove that these questions were indeed changed... they don't believe me, that now people are baptized into an ORGANIZATION vs. to God, Christ and the Holy Spirit! It may be helpful so these folks could start their own journey out...
Any help asap would be appreciated. Thanks so much. Jbean

Where to go? Where to go?
by D8TA inwish that frickin jw lingo line would die plz, thnx.. been hearing it every time i take issue of the wtbts scam.
long slow discussions that have been going on for months.
patiently showing them from the wtbts own publications and no outside sources, the falicy this cult is.. when down to the final round, and have all them facts laid out, pages and pages of wt quotes contradicting its self.

I had this discussion w/family members just yesterday! I feel as though they practically scream "...but then where do we go...?!" because they are like frightened children who find out they're parents just left them (or divorced, say)... all panicky and frightened. The organization has treated them and have MADE them behave as children for years and years (for some, all of their lives) and they don't have a CLUE as to what to do or how to live without it. Very sad indeed, but understandable. When I was asked that question yesterday, along with the usual "don't leave Jesus and he won't leave you" -type answer, I honestly said "I really don't know right now... I'm trying to find that out myself". There wasn't really any other way to answer them at the moment.

What would YOU do?
by Adam inthe california super lotto plus is up to $131 million.
our office has 35 people buying a single ticket together.
since the organizer picked the "cash now" option instead of the "over 20-years" one, there will be a stiff penalty.
-
JBean
I'd take the cash now option. How 'bout if I'm not around in 20 years (God forbid!) I'd pay off all my debt, including my mortgage, and pay off all of my immediate family's debt too. Then I'd sit back and take a deep breath, and then decide what to do with the rest! ; )

Just came across this and thought it was very interesting... and makes sense considering what many here have had to put up with! Enjoy!
* * * *
The FIVE MonkeysStart with a cage containing five monkeys.
Inside the cage, hang a banana on a string and place a set of stairs under it.
Before long, a monkey will go to the stairs and start to climb towards the banana. As soon as he touches the stairs, spray all of the other monkeys with cold water.
After a while, another monkey makes an attempt with the
same result - all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon, when a monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.Now, put away the cold water.
Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and wants to climb the stairs. To his surprise and horror, all of the other monkeys attack him.
After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs, he will be assaulted.
Next, remove another of the original five monkeys and
replace it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment with enthusiasm! Likewise, replace a third original monkey with a new one, then a fourth, and then the fifth.
Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs, he is
attacked. Most of the monkeys that are beating him have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs or why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey. After replacing all the original monkeys, none of
the remaining monkeys have ever been sprayed with cold water.
Nevertheless, no monkey ever again approaches the stairs to try for the banana. Why not?
Because as far as they know that's the way it's always been
done around here...And that, my dear friends, is how policy
begins. -

DB... interesting post! How in the world, though, can you still sit through those meetings, and EVEN go out in service, if you know what's up? It would make me crazy! I gotta hand it to you... I'm having a hard time biting my tongue with my friends and family... and I don't even really attend anymore!!! Jbean
