by Theocratic Sedition ingirl at work gave me one of these.
i was very appreciative of her doing so, yet too embarrased to ask her what it was.

Do you think our society is on the verge of collapsing?
by jam innot to sound like the gloom and doom cult we were apart,.
but are we heading for an collapse in our society?.
iam sure we all are familiar with the signs that bring about.
-
ILTSF
Yeah, I think sooner or later, or sooner rather than later, we are facing a collapse. Great nations usually do, and we're definitely heading down the paths that lead to collapse.

In Your Estimation What Percentage Of Witnesses Actually Believe They Have The "Truth"?
by minimus ini think 60% think or hope it's all what it's cracked up to be and the others are just there for different reasons.. what do you think?.

I won't try to come up with numbers because I don't think I can. However, it seems like a lot of older ones WANT to believe very, very badly. Some may fully believe...others, it's like they believe to some degree and try to believe the rest. As others mentioned, they are very afraid to leave all that they have ever known.
For younger ones...I don't know how many can really truly believe. I feel like some just don't even ever think about whether they believe or not, because life as a JW is clear cut and easy for them...follow this path, do these exact things, etc...they don't have to think about it. For myself, I know that I thought about it quite a bit during the age of 13-17 or so...and I remember coming to the conclusion, a few times, that whether or not it was true, I was protected and safe and I would be able to find a husband who would treat me good (as a teenager with a history of abuse this was important to me)...now I realize that that wasn't even true.

Fear of Dying
by snare&racket ini was thinking about how to explain to a family member how i have no fear or issue with not living in a paradise earth etc.
they dont believe i left the jws for good reason, they think like every jw that i must be bitter about the religion or something.. .
i am an atheist and for many reasons i dont fear death, but i was trying to think of a way to explain it from a jw perspective when it hit me...... it doesnt matter.. option a: do t believe in god and believe that i will die and there will be eternal nothingness.

Makes sense to me. I was just thinking about this in response to that other thread about whether you would go running back to the JWs if it looks like the predictions were coming true, and the simplest answer to me is no...I will not worship that God no matter what.

Do You Consider Yourself Religious? Do You Believe In God? Are You Spiritual?
by minimus ini do not consider myself religious in any way.
i do believe in "god" and i think i am a spiritual person to some degree.. what about you?.
-
ILTSF
I do not consider myself religious at all, and do not believe in any gods. As for spiritual...I guess it depends on the day but in general, no, not really.

I discuss it with people now WAY more than I did when I actually was a JW.

Did you witness at school?
by NomadSoul ini grew up being a witness.
i remember in elementary and somewhat in middle school i used to be really outspoken about being a witness.
i even had my own study with a classmate, which thankfully he lost interest because i was getting tired of it too.. but high school was a different story.

I never witnessed in school, even as an elementary student. I would avoid telling people that I was a JW in general, and dreaded the few times a year when I knew it was certain to come up (holidays, birthdays, etc...).
High school actually got easier in that regard. The school was a lot bigger, I had more teachers, there were more students...it was easier to just slip in the crowd. Holiday crafts and the like were pretty much over by that point, so that wasn't an issue, and I don't think I ever told anyone, teacher or fellow student, that I was a JW. I would say that my parents were "very strict" but not go into the reasons.

Kids doing the dirty work...
by MrFreeze ina lot of times i noticed that jw's would have their little ones hold the magazines while out at the door.
i guess they figured it would make the householder more likely to take the trash.. well my parents tried to pull the same thing on me.
only with the memorial.
