I don't think any of us believed in Dragon-Slayers before this commission, let alone that we would see one in action in our lifetimes. We have hurt long enough.

RC and comming legislation
by Bill Covert inthe rc put it to spinks that there is comming legislation comming out of these proceedings, of which mandatory reporting, to be worked out.
criminal charges for those in clergy positions failing to make the report.. in the post "contacted by royal commission today" "umbertoecho" stated that she was encouraged to seek compensation for damages.
mulling that post over in my mind i think the rc will legeslate a means that the victims of jehovah witnesses will be able to gain compensation from the watchtower much like the catholics.

My problem with this shit is, in what way is making a sister available to listen to a victim of abuse and make a report subject to the victims wishes and in their words, against any principal in the bible.
(Aside from the fact that women were judges in the Hebrew Scriptures, Junia is named as an apostle in Acts although the JW bible turns a feminine proper noun into a neuter. Not to mention the fact that the same scholars who claim the adultrous woman story is a later addition also claim that 'woman not to speak in church'was also a 3rd 4th century reaction to the increasing visability of women in the Xtrian church)

I certainly wouldn't call her an academic in any sense of the word. She is merely a social worker who has some additional qualifications and very little clinical experience. She really is not very bright, has had the wool pulled over her eyes by the dark tower and should have been taken to task for her sickening greed in the face of a faith that puts at huge risk the very souls she ostensibly has done all this "studying"in order to protect.

Thats some statistic,but my question is what do you guys think the org can or is willing to do to get over the "Jehovahs good name is more important than your sufferings" attitude. That belief is compounded by the idea that all will be well in the new system so giving in to your woes now shows lack of spiritual strenghth.
While this attitude prevails, witness children will indeed continue to be silenced by the ORG, never mind the problems of the two witness rule.

mr stewart gave him the opertunity to explain the "no part of this world" doctrine, he merely expressed surprise that they had not informed themselves as if it were a personal foible of those particular elders.
it would have been a great opertunity to express disgust at the distain and uncaring attitude the society exhibits toward its worldly neighbours, i also believe him to be out of date re superior authority doctrine ..giving creedence to the lie the jw's are good and productive members of society.

by umbertoecho inhello to those following what is going in australia with our royal commission.. i want to let all those abused, neglected, shunned and blamed that i understand why you may not front the rc.
the wtbts is hoping you will consider yourself an invalid complainant, because you are not or were not.....baptised.
if you were abused at a young age and you told on your dad or the bad man that did it.......you would have been taken aside by the overseer and read scriptures about lying and being immoral; even if you didn't know what that word meant.

I am so sorry for what you have been through. Your bravery will prevent children in the future suffering as you did with the help of the RC. We owe ALL survivors a debt of gratitude for highlighting the hypocracy of the WTBTS, its ancient backward tribal rules must be challenged by all compassionate, rational humans.

Me too, I relate to that possum, nice to meet you, I also had my eyes opened by a fabulous philosophy uni course. Forever grateful to thr Open University..saved my life. I am sorry for your suffering and that of your family, especially your mum, my father too is an alcoholic. Your Dad I feel probably uses the wtbts as an emotional crutch..considering the hell he must have been through.
